Couple Plans a May Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. Savage announce the engagement of their daughter, Judith Lee, to Joseph Henry Higginbotham III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Higginbotham Jr. of Lynchburg, Va.

The wedding will take place in May.

A graduate of Altavista High School at, Altavista, Va., Judith attends Radford College in Virginia.

Henry is a graduate of E. C. Glass High School in Lynchburg and Virginia Polytechnic Institute at Blacksburg where he was vice president of Sigma Mu Sigma and also an officer in the Lynchburg Club of VPI. Upon graduation he was associated with Sears and Roebuck Co. at Charlotte. He is serving with the U. S. Army and is enrolled in the Air Defense Officers Course at Ft. Bliss, Texas.

Mr. and Mrs. John James Higginbotham of Gastonia proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Marlowe Higginbotham, to Eric Kurt Scholler.

A July 17, 2010 wedding is planned at First Presbyterian Church of Kings Mountain.

About the bride-elect: Marlowe is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Marlowe of Kings Mountain and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Higginbotham of Macon, Ga. She graduated valedictorian from Gaston Day School in 2005 and graduated valedictorian from North Carolina State University, summa cum laude, in 2009. She is a member of Phi Eta Sigma and Beta Gamma Sigma honor fraternities and the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. She is currently attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kenan-Flager Business School. She will graduate with a Master of Accounting degree in May 2010. She will be employed in the fall of 2010 by Greer & Walker LLP of Charlotte. Marlowe is a member of the Col. Frederick Hambright chapter of the DAR of Kings Mountain. She was presented in June 2005 at the Junior Charity League Debutante Ball of Shelby.

About the future bridegroom: Eric is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Scholler of Cramerton. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ramon A. Welborn of Hagerman, N.M., Mr. Walter Scholler of Aachen, Germany and the late Mrs. Hilde Scholler of Aachen, Germany. He graduated valedictorian from Gaston Day School in 2001, graduated from North Carolina State University, cum laude, in 2006 with a B.S. degree in Polymer & Color Chemistry and a minor in statistics and graduated in 2008 with a M.S. degree in Textile Chemistry and a minor in textile management. He was an ITT fellow and a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon-honors chemistry fraternity. He is employed as an Economic Analyst at FC Stone, LLC, International Assets-Fiber & Textiles of Nashville, Tenn.

Their engagement was formally announced at an engagement party given by Mr. and Mrs. James A. Champion of Kings Mountain and Ms. Sarah Wall Sunday of Mooresboro. On Oct. 10, 2009 the beautifully appointed party was held at the Champion home in Kings Mountain. It was attended by family and friends.
