Joel Brown Ash

     Joel Brown Ash was born on 18 February 1858 at Wythe Twp, Hancock Co, IL.. He was the son of William Jackson Ash and Eliza Ann Culpepper. He married Rose Alpha Allen, daughter of David Robert Allen and Harriet "Hattie" Elizabeth Stevenson, on 31 December 1879 at Wythe Twp, Hancock Co, IL.. He was a farmer in 1880 at Hancock Co, IL.. He came from Illinois and was part of the Oklahoma Land Rush. He homesteaded in Oklahoma and raised wheat on his farm of 600 acres.⁹ He was a farmer in 1900 at Stella Twp, Woods Co, OK.. He began losing his eyesight about 45 years old. He went to Chicago about 1905 to see an eye specialist.⁹ He lived in 1918 at Hutchinson, KS.. He died on 30 May 1937 at Alfalfa Co, OK., at age 79. He was buried at Rosedale Cemetery, Alfalfa Co, OK..
