John Ferson
     John Ferson was born on 11 March 1793 at Francestown, NH..8 He was the son of James McFerson and Mary Starrett. He married Lucy F. Woods, daughter of Jacob Woods and Lucy Powers, on 19 January 1819 at Francestown, NH..9 He is said to have possessed the power of discovering underground water courses by the aid of a witch-hazel stick.6 He moved from Francestown to Antrim, NH in 1819, and returned to Francestown in 1827.6 He was a harness maker. He sold his farm in Francestown, and moved to Nashua in 1846.10,4 He died on 17 July 1872 at Nashua, NH., at age 79.11 He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, NH..
