     Lillian May Fletcher was born on 7 May 1864 at Nashua, NH.. She was the daughter of Amos Fletcher and Clarissa "Clara" Ann Ferson. Lillian was blind as a child due to cataracts. In 1879, she attended The Perkins Institute for the Blind in Boston, MA, where she received her high school diploma in 1886. A young eye surgeon performed cataract operations, which restored part of her vision. She then taught at the Perkins School. One of her students was Edith Thomas, who was blind and deaf.
In 1890, she traveled to Honolulu, where she taught at the Quicehow Seminary. By 1892, she was teaching in several small rural schoolhouses in Marshall County, South Dakota. She married Myron M Moore, son of John Henry Moore and Celestia A. Burch, on 14 October 1897 at Aberdeen, Brown Co, SD.. She died on 12 July 1931 at Seaside, OR., at age 67; She died crossing a street, hit by a car she did not see. She was buried at Ocean View Cemetery, Clatsop Co, OR..
