John Carl Timm was born in Germany. Information is sketchy but it is suggested that he may have fled Germany (or Prussia) one step ahead of the Kaiser's soldiers. According to census records, his oldest child was born in Germany in 1877, so perhaps Carl immigrated to America in the early 1880's as did so many others from Germany. John Carl was born 2 April 1849 at Neustetten, Germany and died in Cleveland Ohio on 27 August 1930. His death certificate names his parents as John Timm and Fredericka Stilles. It is believed that Neustetten was *near* Stetten, which is now known as Szczecin, just inside the Polish border.

His wife Ida E Doege was born 25 January 1848 in Falkenburg, Germany and died 29 November 1932. Nothing further is known about her at this time. They may have lived at first in Michigan. At one time he was a teamster, "back in the days when teamsters had to clean up the horse shit".

  1. Carl Julius Timm was born about 1878
  2. Hulda Timm born Feb 1881 and died in 1965. Hulda married 25 June 1913 Willibald Myers (1881-1965), son of Henry and Margaret Myers. They had two daughters, Elinor and Esther.

Carl Julius Timm (Carl1) was born in Germany 27 October 1877. On 24 June 1908, he married Erna Voss who was born in Ohio in November of 1882, daughter of Frederic Voss and Augusta Witt and died 31 May 1951. Carl was listed as a mail carrier in the 1920 census. [wedding photo]

Carl Frederic Timm and Erna Voss had:

  1. Carl R Timm was born in Ohio 8 July 1909 "died young of pneumonia" on 4 Dec 1937.
  2. Edwin W Timm was born in Ohio 6 Oct 1910 and died 1 April 1954. He and his wife Betty Anabel (1917-1999) had two daughters, Natalie and Elizabeth.
  3. Walter Friedrich Timm was born 26 Nov 1913

Walter Friedrich Timm (Carl2, Carl1) was born in Cleveland OH 26 Nov 1913. He married Verna Annette Hageman in Cleveland OH, 2 Feb 1949. Verna was born in Cleveland OH 21 Oct 1925, daughter of John A Hageman and Anna Tatzke.
