ARCHBOLD Chatton, NBL, UK (1750-1860)
The Archbold family who lived in Chatton, Northumberland for several generations are the descendants of George Archbold. We do not know George's origins but it is possible that he and a brother, James, were born in Scotland circa 1719.
George Archbold married Elizabeth Brown in Holy Cross church, Chatton in 1744. They had six known children including their son James, who was baptised there in 1751. James was a shoemaker who married married Ann Brown in 1772 at Belford. The family lived in Chatton, their children born there 1772-1786 were Eleanor, Elizabeth, Ann, Margaret, George, Mary and Isabella.
Isabella Archbold was born at Chatton cir. Feb 1786. She married George Beattie, a mason, cir. 1810 (the record of their marriage has not yet been found). They had nine known children borm in Chatton 1810-1841.

BARKER Barnard Castle, DUR 1827-1891
George Barker was born in 1716 at Forcett, North Yorkshire, the son of John Barker. George and his wife Elizabeth had three children born in Forcett between 1742 and 1748, Elizabeth, George2 and Henry. They then moved the short distance across the Tees to Whorlton Co. Durham, where seven further children John, Hannah, Sarah, Jane, George, Susan and Eleanor were born 1751-1764.
Henry Barker was born in Forcett in 1748. He became a mason and in 1776 he married Jane Wilson at the parish church of St. Mary Whorlton. They had six children Ann, Robert, Ann II, Jane, Mary, George3 and Elizabeth all born in Whorlton 1777-1799 before George died in 1801 from "consumption", Jane lived until 1839 when she died at the age eighty five.
George Barker3 was born in Whorlton in 1794. In 1815 he married Ann Bell at St. Mary, Barnard Castle. At he time of their marriage George was recorded as a farmer from Brignall, North Yorkshire. It was there that their first children Robert, Elizabeth, Jane, Mary Ann, Eleanor and Maria were born 1816-1826. Around 1818 the family moved to Barnard Castle where George developed a slate dealing business while continuing his farming. Further children Hannah, Isabella, Henry, Eliza, Isabella, George I and George II were born 1828-1838. Their fourteen child, Robert was born in 1841 at Startforth, Yks. George's business prospered and he is believed to have owned a slate quarry. Ann died in 1868 and George then lived with his widowed daughter Elizabeth, who had previously married William Appleby, a farmer thirty nine years her senior. George died at her home in Newgate St., Barnard Castle in 1872.
Hannah Barker is something of a mystery. We know that she was the daughter of George born in the Barnard Castle area cir 1828, around the time that her parents were moving from Whorlton, but she is not recorded in the baptismal registers of either parish. In 1848 she is found to be living in Bishopwearmouth where she married Henry Yarrow. After living in Sunderland the family moved to Wednesbury, Staffordshire where they are recorded in the 1871 census. By 1881 Henry is recorded as a widower but no record of the civil registration of Hannah's death has yet been found.

BEATTIE (BATIE) Chillingham, Chatton & Wooler, Northumb, UK (1720-1904)
The Beattie family were stone masons living in the Chillingham/Chatton area of Northumberland for several generations. They are descended from George Batie who was born circa. 1720, the details of his birth and parents are not known. He married Margaret Crone in 1747 at St. Peter, Chillingham. They had seven sons and one daughter born in Chillingham 1747-1763. These included William (born 1749) who married Esther Mather in 1784 at Holy Trinity, Berwick on Tweed. They had one daughter Margaret and two sons Jonathon and George2.
George Beattie2 married Isabella Archbold, cir. 1810 (the record of their marriage has not yet been found). Their children William, James, George, Jonathon, Richard, Ann, Robert, Joseph and Ester were born in Chatton between 1811 and 1834. Of the sons William and Richard are also known to have become stone masons. Richard married Isabella Marshall cir 1845, their children George3, Jonathon, Alice, Jane Ann, John, Isabella, and Lucy Isabella were born in the Chatton area 1847-1859. The family subsequently moved to nearby Wooler where they established the family firm of George Beattie and Sons, which was responsible for building many of the farmhouses and railway stations in the area.
George Beattie3 ran the family building firm. He married Isabella Dixon Morton in 1875 at All Saints, Newcastle on Tyne. Their surviving children Elizabeth, Isabella Dixon, Alice, George4 and Robert were born in Wooler 1877-1885. In addition Isabella gave birth to triplets in 1892, Richard, May and Annie, but within a year all three had died. George junior4 took over the running of the family firm, his sister Alice Beattie married Matthew Henry Heckels in 1904 at St. Mary, Wooler.

BELL Barnard Castle, DUR
George Bell was living in Barnard Castle when his son Ralph was born in 1763, we do not know the name of his wife. Ralph, a farmer, married Elizabeth Hutchinson in 1792, at St. James Hamsterley, Co. Durham. They lived in Barnard Castle where their son George was born in 1794 and daughter Ann in 1797.
Ann Bell married George Barker, a farmer and slate dealer, in 1815 at St. Mary, Barnard Castle.

CADE Bishop Wilton & Everingham
CUTHBERTSON (CULBERTSON) Sprouston, Roxburgshire, SCT > Doddington, NBL, UK (1760-1784)
William Culbertson was probably born in Sprouston, Roxburgshire in 1760, the son of John Culbertson and Elspeth Home. In 1747 he married Agness Anderson, and their children Isobel, John, Isobel II, Robert and Elizabeth were born there 1748-1760. In 1784 Elizabeth married Robert Stewart (also a native of Sprouston) in 1784 at St. Mary and St. Michael, Doddington.

DIXON Chillingham & Wooler, NBL, UK (1787-1850)
Dixon is one of the most common surnames in North Northumberland. A William and Elizabeth Dixon were living at Thornton, in Norham parish, Northumberland when their son William2 was born circa 1787, their elder sons James and Ralph having been born in Branxton. William2 married Elizabeth Mathewson in 1817 at Ilderton. He was working as a shepherd at Newtown, Chillingham when their children Elizabeth, James, Job and Isabella were born 1818-1830. Subsequently he bought land at Spittal, Berwick on Tweed where he traded as a butcher.
Elizabeth Dixon married the boy next door, Robert Morton a shoemaker, in 1845 at St. Peter, Chillingham.

DODSWORTH (Ricall, Cawood, Brayton, Kellington & Selby, YKS 1680-1900)
The Dodsworth family are known to have lived around the town of Selby, Yorkshire for over three hundred years. The earliest confirmed connection is with Matthew Dodsworth who was living in Riccall, with his probable wife Ann, when their children John, William, Matthew, Anna and Henry were born 1685-1696. Matthew died in 1719 and Ann in 1728 both being burried at Riccall.
Henry Dodsworth born in 1696 married Mary Ball at St. Mary, Riccall and their children Frances, John, Elizabeth, Matthew, Henry and Mary were born there 1717-1732. Henry probably died soon afterwards in 1733.
John Dodsworth was born in 1719 at Ricall and married Martha Smith circa 1740. They were living in Cawood with John working as a labourer when their children Henry, John, Matthew, William, Sarah, Mary, Hannah, twins Joseph and Benjamin, and Lenard were born 1741-1760. John died soon afterwards in 1764, at the age of fourty five.
William Dodsworth was born in 1747 at Cawood and was living at Barlby in 1772 when he married Mary Gibson at St. Mary in the adjacent parish of Hemmingbrough. The family lived at Gateforth in Brayton parish, where there children William, John, Thomas, Mary, Charlotte, William2 and Leah were born 1777-1790. Mary died in 1821 at the age of seventy four and William five years later at the age of seventy eight, both were buried in Brayton churchyard.
Their son William2 Dodsworth, who was born at Gateforth in 1787, married Mary Woomack in 1806 at St. Wilfred, Brayton, where their daughter Mary was born in 1807. Soon afterwards the family moved to Beal in the parish of Kellington where further children Thomas, William, Harriet, John, Maria, Matthew, Leah, Charlotte and Eliza were born 1809-1827. In 1841 William and Mary living were living in West Haddesley but they were back in Beal when William died from asthma in 1849, Mary survived him until 1861 when she died of kidney disease. During his life William was variously described as a husbandman, agricultural labourer and a farmer.
John Dodsworth was born in Beal in 1814 and was living in Selby and working as a gardener when he married at the Abbey Mary Ann Lamb in 1837. They were living in Abbey Yard when their children William, Asenath, Maria, Harriet, James, John, Enoch, Matthew and Harriet II were born between 1838 and 1855. The five sons married and raised their families in Selby. William, a ship's carpenter, married Mary Ann Parker, their children were Fredric, Arthur, Annie Maria and John William. John married Mary Ann Golton, their children were Alfred, Ernest, Albert, Joseph, John William, Rose Agnes, Lilian, Alfred and Clifford. Enoch, a carpenter, married Ann Bell, their children were Annie Maria, Mary Elizabeth, Mary II, Ann, Lucy, Emily Jane, Rose, Minnie, Annie and Lillie. Matthew married Elizabeth Stainton, their children were Alice, Charlotte and Arthur, Minnie, Herbert, William, Edith and Minnie II.
James Dodsworth the son of John and Mary Ann Lamb was born in Selby and became a ships carpenter. In 1867 he married Eliza Jane Graham from Newry in Ireland, at Selby Abbey. They had three children Mary Ann, Harry and Lucy born 1858-1874. James died in 1905 at the age of fifty nine following an infection of his gall bladder. Eliza Jane lived until 1916 when she died of cancer. Both were buried in Selby cemetary. Their son Henry, a railway worker, married Ada Jane Hobman, a distant cousin, in 1895 and had three daughters Ada Jane, Eliza Jane and Ambrosia.
Lucy Dodsworth, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Lamb was born in 1872 and married William Hunter Yarrow 1890 at Selby Abbey. Soon after the family moved to Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham where William worked as a mining engineer and their children were born 1893-1917. William died in 1926. At the age of sixty one, in 1932, Lucy married Atkinson Watson Jackson but she died only two years later after suffering from multiple sclerosis.

GIBSON Bedlington, Nbl (1700- aft.1900)
The Gibson family were associated with the manufacture of nails in Bedlington for several generations. The earliest information we have is of Henry Gibson, a labourer, born abt. 1695, who married Ellenor Robinson in 1718 at St. John, Ulgham. They lived in Bedlington where their children William, Henry, John, Elizabeth, John II and Richard were born 1718-1728. They moved for a while to Cramlington where Humphrey was born in 1730, but were back in Bedlington by the time Joseph was born in 1739. Henry died in 1747 and was buried at St. Cuthbert, Bedlington.
Humphrey Gibson became a nail maker and married Ann Stephenson in 1753 at St. Cuthbert. Their children, twins Henry2 and William, Ann and Mary were born 1754-1759, before Ann died in 1762. Humphrey subsequently married Ann Moss in 1766 at St. Cuthbert. He was widowed for the second time in 1766 and died in 1798 at the age of sixty eight.
Henry2 Gibson married Hannah Jameson in 1784 at St. Cuthbert, Bedlington . Their children, William, Phillip, Henry, Ann and Hannah were all born in Bedlington 1786-1795. William was lost at sea on passage to Corunna, at the time of the Peninsula War in 1808. Phillip and Henry went into the family business of nail manufacturing and that family tradition continued for at least another generation.
Hannah Gibson born 1795 in Bedlington married Henry Yarrow in 1821 at St. Andrew, Newcastle on Tyne. Their first son Henry Yarrow was born there in 1824 and a second son William Gibson Yarrow was born in Bedlington in 1827.

GRAHAM Newry, IRL > Selby, YKS 1848-1890
Eliza Jane Graham was born in Newry, Ireland abt. 1848. We do not have any information on her parents. Around the age of twenty she married John Dodsworth from Selby, in Yorkshire. We do not know whether John was working in Ireland or if Eliza Jane had previously moved to Yorkshire.

GRAINGER/GRANGER Durham City > Newcastle on Tyne > Wallsend 1748-1850
The first record we have is of John Grainger who married Mary Kendall on 7 May 1748 at St. Mary
le Bow, Durham City. They had four children Henry, Mary, Elizabeth and Isabell
born 1751-1758 in Durham and recorded as Granger at their baptisms.
Mary Granger was baptised at St. Mary le Bow on 31 March 1754. At the age of
twenty three she had an illegitimate son Henry who was baptised on 20 April
1777. We do not know what happened to Mary, there is no marriage or further
children recorded in the parish. By 1805 Henry is living on Tyneside, working as
a blacksmith and using the Grainger surname. On 18 March 1805 the twenty seven
year old Henry married twenty year old Elizabeth
Rutherford at St. John, Newcastle. The family lived at Howden, Wallsend and
had seven children born there 1807-1823, John Adam, Mary, Ann Duncan, Thomas
Adam Elizabeth and George Adam. Henry died at East Howden on 24 September 1852,
the cause of death was bronchitis of three months duration.
Ann Duncan Grainger was baptised on 25 September 1813 in St. Peter, Wallsend.
By 1840 when she married she is living on the High Street, Gateshead, when she
married Richard Wigham at St Mary’s church. She died of heart disease at the
age of fifty six on 3 November 1869 in Westoe, South Shields.

HARRISON
Rebecca Harrison was probably born around 1725,
possibly in Newcastle on Tyne. It was there that she married George Heckles
in All Saints church on 8 Sep 1750. Their sons George and Richard are the
originators of the two branches from which all members of the
Heckels/Heckles family originating from North East England can trace their
ancestry. Rebecca died in 1783 and was buried at St. Peter, Wallsend, she
was probably about sixty years old
HUGGUP (OR HUBBUCK) Wallsend, NBL, UK 1746-1851
John Huggup was born in Longbenton, Northumberland in 1746, he married Margaret Mitchinson in 1773. We know of four children John, Jane, Mary and William born 1776-1782. Mary Huggup married George Heckels in Longbenton in 1803.

JAMESON Bedlington, Nbl (1784)
Hannah Jameson was born abt. 1754 probably in Northumberland, we have no information on her parents. In 1784 she married Henry Gibson at St. Cuthbert, Bedlington.
KELL Merrington, Ferryhill, Auckland, DUR, UK (1734-1936)
Kells have lived in south west Durham for at least 250 years. We know of Samuel Kell who married Honor Youl in Bishop Middleham in 1764. They lived in Kirk Merrington and had at least eight children born in the ten year peroid 1765-1775. The only descendants that we know of result from the marriage of their son Samuel who married Barbara Hall from Chester le Street in 1798. They had thirteen children, including nine sons, William, George, John, Ralph, Samuel, Samuel Hall, Thomas, Matthew and Thomas. These sons produced a large extended family who continued to live in the Merrington, Ferryhill area. They and their children continued to use the same family names for several generations. In particular the use of Hall as a second name became common.

KENDALL Durham City (1725-1760)
Mary Kendall was probably born around 1725 but we know nothing of her origins. She was living in Durham City when she married John Grainger at St. Mary le Bow where their four children were subsequently baptised. We have no further information on their lives.

LAMB Selby, YKS, UK (1790-1901)
James Lamb, a carter, was born cir 1792 we have no information on his parents. He was living in Selby in 1817 when he married Frances Newlove at the Abbey. Their children Mary Ann, James, William, Martha, John, Elizabeth, Harriet and William II were born there 1819-1836. They lived at Abbey Yard where William died in 1843 at the age of fifty one, Frances died in 1857 at the age of sixty four, both were buried at the Abbey.
Mary Ann Lamb was born in 1819, she married John Dodsworth in 1837 at Selby Abbey.
MARSHALL Chatton & Wooler, NBL, UK (1812-1876)
John Marshall, a shepherd, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland circa 1787. He may have been the son of Alexander Marshall and his wife Jean. John married Alice Pringle in 1812 at Kirknewton. Their first daughter Isabella was born at Fenton, Northumberland in 1814, followed by further children Alice, Ann, James, John and Jane born 1819-1827 as the family moved between Belford and Chatton.
Isabella Marshall married Richard Beattie, a stone mason, circa 1845. They lived at Fowberry, Chatton where their seven children were born before the family moved to Wooler.

MATHER Spittal, Tweedmouth, Nbl, UK (1730-1784)
Jonathon Mather born abt. 1730 married Dorothy Mitchenson in 1758 at St. Bartholomew, Tweedmouth. They lived in Spittal where their daughters Esther and Dorothy were born before Jonathon died in 1766. Esther, who was baptised as Hester in 1759, married William Beatie in 1784 at Holy Trinity, Berwick on Tweed.

MATTHEWSON (MATHISON) Wooler, Nbl, UK (cir 1790-1810)
Robert Mathison was born in Northumberland circa 1764 and married Elizabeth Pringle in Wooler in 1787 where their children Elizabeth, Isabella, James and Thomas were born 1789-1807 and recorded under surname Mathewson.
Elizabeth Mathewson married William Dixon, a shepherd, in 1817 at St. Michael, Ilderton.

MORTON Chillingham, Wooler & North Shields, NBL, UK (1791-1960)
Andrew Morton was probably born circa 1791 in Ellingham, Northumberland. The record of his birth has not been found, nor that of his marriage to his first wife Dorothy. They were living in Heckley Fence, Anlwick when their daughter Isabella was born in 1812. However Dorothy died the following year. A year later Andrew remarried, Ann Stewart, at St. Michael, Alnwick. After their first child George was born in 1815 the family moved to Newtown, Chillingham where Andrew worked on a local farm. Nine more children followed in the years between 1817 and 1836, Robert, Ralph, James, Elizabeth, Thomas, Jane, Stephen, William and John. Following the death of Ann in 1857, Andrew moved to Newcastle to be close to some of his children. In 1866 he was crossing the road at the junction of Gallowgate and Blackett St. when he was knocked down by a horse and cart. Although he appeared to have recovered he relapsed and died three weeks later. The driver of the cart was found guilty of "furious driving".
Robert Morton who was born in 1817,worked as a shoemaker and in 1845 he married "the girl next door", Elizabeth Dixon, at St. Peter, Chillingham. Their children Andrew, Elizabeth Dixon, William Dixon, Annie, Isabella Dixon and Robert Adam Stewart were born in Newtown 1845-1859. Subsequently the family moved to Wooler where Robert ran his shoemaker's business employing several men. He was a respected elder of the church and was active in politics being an ardent liberal. In his later years he suffered from failing sight, before he died in 1905, age eighty seven.
In 1875 Elizabeth Dixon Morton married George Beattie the owner of a local building firm.

Newlove Wetwang & Selby, YKS; Margate, KEN (1730-1890)
The Newlove family have been associated with the village of Wetwang, near to Driffield in East Yorkshire, for centuries. Robert Newlove was born abt. 1730, probably in Wetwang, and in 1759 married Margaret Cade at St. Everilda, Everingham. They lived at Wetwang where their children James, Frances, Robert and Mary were born 1761-1767. At some stage they moved to Norton, near Malton where Richard worked as a netmaker.
James Newlove was born at Wetwang in 1761. In 1780, at the age of nineteen he married Mary Stones, who was also nineteen, at St. Michael le Belfrey in the city of York. Thereafter they lived at Selby where James worked as a ship's carpenter. Their children James, James2 II, Hannah, Mary, Robert, Frances, Hannah II, John, Charlotte and William were born 1783-1805, all being baptised at the Abbey. James died at Selby in 1812 at the age of fifty, Mary lived until 1836 when she was seventy five, both were buried at the Abbey.
James2 Newlove was born in Selby in 1785. By the time he was in his early twenties he had moved to London where he married Arabella Allin in 1808 at St. Pancras Old Church. He established an academy and boarding school in Hatton Garden. Their children Mary Ann, James, Arabella, Joshua and Fanny were born 1813-1824. Around 1832 the family moved to Margate, Kent where James established the Dane Academy for boys. In 1835, while digging to make a duckpond, the family made an amazing discovery, the Margate Shell Grotto, which was hidden below the garden of their house. The origins of the Grotto are unknown some suggest it a pagan temple of Roman or Phoenician origins, others that it was created by Sir Issac Newton. James died in 1851 and left the Grotto to his daughter Fanny. Subsequently ownership passed out of the control of the family. The story of the family and the discovery of the Grotto is the subject of a novel The Realm of Shells, by Sonia Overall published in 2006.
Frances Newlove, the daughter of James and his wife Mary Stones was born at Selby in 1793. In 1817 she married James Lamb at Selby Abbey.

OVINGTON Whorlton Co. Durham (1600-1740)
Ovingtons were living in Whorlton, Co. Durham in the early years of the seventeenth century, including Thomas and his possible brother John. Thomas and his wife, who's name we do not know, had sons John2 and Henry born 1627 and 1629. Simarly we do not know the name of John's wife but he had three children Jane, Thomas and John3 who were baptised in the parish church of St. Mary 1651-1655. John3, born 1655, had children Philis and John4 baptised in 1681 and 1684, again we have no information on their mother.
John Ovington4 possibly married Ann Dunn in 1709 at Kirk Merrington. John and Ann lived in Whorlton, where their children were born, Thomas in 1710 and Ann in 1712. Ann married Robert Wilson, probably at Easington, Yks in 1740. They lived in Whorlton where six children were born 1742-1743.
PEARSON South Shields, DUR, UK (1770-1859)
Thompson Pearson was probably born after 1770 in the South Shields area, where he married Ann Bolton. We have no further information on their parents but Thompson was probably related to an Albion Pearson who was living in South Shields at the same time. Their first child Maria was born in 1797 followed by Bolton, Thompson, Elvira, Margaret, Albion Sarah and Ann. The use of the name Albion has continued in their descendants to the present day. Ann Pearson was born in 1810 and in 1831 she married John Heckels in Christ Church, Tynemouth.

PRINGLE Felton & Kirknewton, Nbl, UK (1728-1787; 1812)
(a). John Pringle was born in 1728, Felton Northumberland the son of Thomas Pringle (we do not know the name of his mother). He married Elizabeth Dunn in 1754 at Felton parish church. They lived in nearby hamlet of Eshott where their children Thomas, William, Isabel, Mary and Elizabeth were born 1755-1766. Elizabeth married Robert Mathison in 1787 in Wooler.
(b). Alice Pringle married John Marshall in 1812 at Kirknewton parish church. We have no information on her parents or whether she was related to John Pringle and family.

QUINN or QUINNEN Auckland, Ferryhill, UK 1830-1880
Catherine Quinn was born in Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham abt. 1885. She was the daughter of Dominic Quinn (or Quinnen) and sister of John born aby 1881. We do not know the name of Dominic's wife. John married Bridgit (surname unknown) and they had three children Mary, John and Charles born 1875 and 1877, before Bridgit died. Catherine Quinn married Matthew Kell, a miner, in 1877. After Matthew died Catherine married his brother Ralph Kell in 1887.

Rayth Kellington & Snaith, YKS (1730-1790)
James Rayth was probably living with his wife, who's name we do not know, in Kellington, Yorkshire around 1750. He is later recorded as living in Snaith where he was working as a wheelwright. Their daughter Elizabeth, probably born abt. 1730, married Joshua Stones in 1751 at St. Edmund, Kellington

STAMP Wallsend, NBL, UK (1750-1800)
Isabella Stamp was born in Wallsend, Northumberland probably around 1750, we have no information about her parents. In 1776 she married George Heckles, the couple had five children before George died in 1786. The following year Isabella remarried, Thomas Dixon, they had at least one child Sarah Dixon who was born in Longbenton in 1789.

Joshua Stones was living in Beal, Kellington, Yorkshire in 1751 when he married Elizabeth Rayth at the parish church of St. Edmund. Their children Mary, Christina, Ann, Mary James and John were born there 1753-1770. By 1793 they were living in Selby where Joshua was working as a net maker.
Mary Stones, born in Beal in 1760, married James Newlove in 1780 at the church of St. Michael le Belfrey in the city of York, both were aged nineteen.

STEWART Sprouston, ROX, SCT > Doddington,Wooler, Kirknewton & Chillingham, Nbl (1760-1792)
Robert Stewart was born cir 1760 in Sprouston, Roxburgshire, we do not know the names of his parents. He married Elizabeth Cuthbertson (also a native of Sprouston) in 1784 at St. Mary & St. Michael, Doddington, Northumberland. They moved around, with their children Richard, James, Andrew, Thomas Cuthbertson, Henry and Ann being born in various locations in the area 1785-1792.
Ann Stewart married Andrew Morton in 1814 at St. Michael, Alnwick, his first wife had died the previous year.

WIGHAM Newcastle & N. Shields, NBL> Gateshead DUR, UK (1800-1911)
George Wigham was a farmer probably the son of Matthew Wigham, born Crowhall near Earsdon, Northumberland and baptised at St. Alban, Earsdon on 30 November 1727. He married Dorothy Oliver on 18 Jul 1758 at the parish church of St. Mary, Horton and lived at Bebside where children Mary, John and Dorothy were born 1758-1762. They then moved to Whitridge, Seaton Deleval where further children George, Matthew, William and Thomas were born 1765-1772. By 1793 George was farming at Laverick Hall, Horton where he died on 29 July. He was buried at St. Alban, Earsdon on 31 Jul 1793. Dorothy was buried alongside him after she died on 31 October 1810.
Their son Thomas Wigham was born at Whitridge and baptised at St. Alban’s on 26 December. He married Margaret Mood on 23 December 1798 at All Saints, Newcastle on Tyne, he was twenty six she was she was eighteen. During the period 1801-1812 Thomas worked as a coal miner firstly in Newcastle, then Longbenton and then North Shields when their children Mary Ann, Ralph, Jane, Thomas, Ann and Richard were born. By 1841 Thomas was working as a miner at Low Flatworth, East Howden, he died there on 3 January 1850, cause of death, tubercular peritonitis, and was buried at Christ Church, Tynemouth on 6th January. Margaret died as a result of bronchitis on 7 April 1855 at the home of their son Richard, in Westoe, South Shields.
Thomas and Margaret’s son Richard Wigham was born in North Shields on 18 October and baptised at Christ Church, Tynemouth on 24 October 1813. He worked as a coal miner at South Shore, Gateshead and married Ann Duncan Grainger at St. Mary Gateshead on 15 November 1840. They initially lived with Richard’s parents at East Howden where their daughter Elizabeth was born. Their first son John was born in 1845 after the family moved to Seaton Delaval. Soon afterwards they moved to Thornaby, North Yorkshire where Richard was employed as a glassmaker and their son Henry was born in 1847. They soon moved back to Tyneside firstly to Howden where son Thomas was born in 1850 then across the river to Westoe where further sons Ralph and Richard were born in 1852 and 1855 respectively. Ann died there of heart failure at the age of fifty six on 3rd November 1869. Subsequently Richard lived with his daughter Elizabeth and her family in Burnhope, Co. Durham and died there on 21 Dec 1884, age seventy two.
Their daughter Elizabeth Wigham was born on 27 September 1841 in East Howden, Northumberland on the banks of the River Tyne. After living with her family in South Shields she married John William Heckels at St. Mary, Gateshead on 27 Sep 1863, both were recorded as living at Windmill Hills, Gateshead.

WILSON Whorlton, C. Durham 1720-1788
Robert Wilson probably married Ann Ovington in 1740 at Easington, Yks. They lived in Whorlton, Co. Durham where their children Robert, Ann, Ovington, James, Mary and Jane were born 1742-1753. Jane Wilson, born 1753, married Henry Barker in 1776 at St. Mary, Whorlton.

YARROW Newcastle, NBL> Sunderland,DUR >Wednesbury, STS> Selby, YKS> Shildon DUR (1800-1934)
Henry Yarrow was born around the end of the eighteenth century, his origins are unclear. In 1821 he married Hannah Gibson at St. Andrew, Newcastle on Tyne. Their first son also Henry Yarrow2 was born there in 1824 and a second son William Gibson Yarrow was born in Bedlington in 1827. We have no further records of either Henry or Hannah.
Henry Yarrow2 became a marine engineer and was living in Sunderland Co. Durham when he married Hannah Barker in 1848 at Bishopwearmouth. Their first son Francis was born in Sunderland in 1852 followed by Henry in 1855. The family then moved to Wednesbury, Staffordshire where Henry worked as an engineer in the local ironworks. Further children Philip, John George, Anne Maria, William Hunter and Elizabeth were born between 1858 and 1868. Hannah died probably died abt. 1880 Henry moved with the younger children to Selby, Yorkshire.
William Hunter Yarrow married Lucy Dodsworth in 1890 at Selby Abbey. Shortly afterwards the family moved to Shildon, Co. Durham where William worked as a colliery engineer. Their children Beatrice May, Eliza Jane, Mary Annie, William, William, Sydney Harry and Clifford Barker were born between 1893 and 1917. Their youngest child, Beatrice, was tragically killed in a fire at the age of two. In his later years William suffered a stroke and was unable to work, he died in 1926 at the age of 61.
In 1915 Eliza Jane Yarrow married Thomas William Kell.
