John Yoak was probably born about 1770 and died in Randolph County

VA (WV) in 1842. His property was sold at auction in Barbour County VA

January 30, 1843. He married Margaret Catherine Carpenter. Margaret

was born in 1775.

County VA (WV) September 18, 1855. He married Hannah Kelley in Randolph

County VA (WV) July 11, 1822. Hannah, a daughter of Ebenezer T. and

Rachel (Johnson) Kelley, was born in Randolph County June 8, 1802 and

died in Barbour County VA (WV) in 1843.

Elias married Margaret Goldsberry in Barbour County October 5,

1844. Margaret apparently died before the 1850 census.

John B. Floyd Yoak, a son of Robert Johnson and Malinda (Burrows)

Yoak, was born in Calhoun County Va (WV) March 22, 1861 and died July

4, 1939. John was allegedly named for the Confederate cabinet member

who issued orders to attack Fort Sumpter at the beginning of the Civil

War.

He married Eliza Jane Jeffreys May 18, 1873. Eliza, a daughter of

Samuel and Sarah (Hamrick) Jeffreys, was born in Calhoun County July 25,

1860 and died April 13, 1913.
