    The Ours surname is one of those that has been variously spelled in different records.  The name appears as "Ours". "Ower", "Auer", "Ouer" and "Hower".  There are probably other spellings.

    John Gottfried Ours was born about 1755, and died in 1792. He married Anna Maria Wetherhold in Winchester VA January 28, 1776.  John had some acreage surveyed near present day Morgantown, WV October 17, 1781.

    Nicholas Ours, a son of John Gottfried and Anna Maria (Wetherhold) Ours, was born in 1787 and died in Lewis County WV April 15, 1874.  He married Mary Ann Casto in Harrison County VA (WV) in 1815.  Mary was born May 22, 1793 and died June 28, 1835.

    Nicholas married Avis Tenney.  Avis, a daughter of James Sr. and Thankful (Shippe) Tenney, was born in MA January 5, 1803 and died March 3, 1856.

    John Ours, a son of John Gottfried and Anna maria (Wetherhold) Ours,

was born in 1789 and died in Meigs County OH in 1876.  He married Mary

Bonnett in 1821.  Mary was a daughter of William Bonnett.

    Henry Ours, a son of John Gottfried and Anna maria (Wetherhold) Ours, was born in 1790.  He married Sarah "Sally" Strader in Harrison County Va (WV) in 1813. Sarah was born in VA about 1795.

    Nicholas Ours Jr., a son of Nicholas and Avis (Tenney) Ours, was born in VA February 1, 1837 and died October 26, 1920. He married Hester Bryan. Hester was born in VA about 1838 and died about 1865.

    Nicholas married Mary Strader April 21, 1867. Mary was born in VA

about 1844 and died in Upshur County WV April 29, 1894.

Mary Ours, a daughter of Henry and Sarah (Strader) Ours, was born in VA April 20 1816 and died in Lewis County VA July 11, 1859. She married Peter Lynch in Lewis County VA July 2, 1834. Peter died about 1835 and Mary married Anthony Reger in Lewis County March 4, 1836. Anthony, a son of Henry and Elizabeth Anne (Rohrbaugh) Reger, was born in VA Janaury 28, 1818 and died December 7, 1916.

      Anthony married Mary ---- about 1860. Mary was born in VA about 1828.

a daughter of Richard Lee and Hannah Matilda (McCord) Norman, was born

in Lewis County June 14, 1890 and died November 16, 1968.

Leila, a daughter of Samuel B. and Nora (Butcher) Tenney, was born in Upshur County June 3, 1909 and died there July 31. 2007.
