John McCord was probably born about 1760. He married Sarah Ann Price. The family acquired title to 104 acres of land in Hardy County VA (WV) November 23, 1796 by VA Land Office Treasury Warrants #8820 and 17,308. John's widow and her children conveyed this same land to John Alkire in Hardy County April 1, 1814, indicating that he had died prior to that date.

John served the Union in the Civil War in Co G 10th W.Va.

Volunteer infantry from August 15, 1862 until his discharge May 15,

1865.

Elizabeth Pritt, was born about 1827 and died January 31, 1859.

Arthur married Charlotte Markley June 21, 1864. Charlotte

married James Brooks June 25, 1865.

After Arthur died, his children became legal wards of their

uncle, John Thomas McCord and lived in Gilmer County WV.
