    Augustus Kyer was probably born about 1760. He married Catherine

Spring. Catherine was a daughter of Nicholas and Margaret (Cloninger)

Spring. Their marriage bond in Augusta County Va was dated January 2,

1786.

    They lived in Nicholas County VA until the mid 1830's, when they

moved to Gallia County OH.

    John Kyer, a son of Augustus and Catherine (Spring) Kyer, was born

in VA in 1791.  He married Sarah Cottle in 1817.  Sarah, a daughter of

Charles William and Hannah (Campbell) Cottle, was born in 1793 and died

before 1861.

    John was drafted into the 2nd Regiment of the VA Militia September

14, 1812 for service in the War of 1812 and was discharged in 1813.

He stated in Nicholas County VA (WV) court April 10, 1855 that he had

received Land Warrant #41138 for 80 acres of land in reward for his

military service.

      Lewis Kyer, a son of Augustus and Catherine (Spring) Kyer, was born in VA about 1792 and died in Braxton County VA (WV) between 1850 and 1860. He married Elizabeth Boggs in VA in 1819. Elizabeth, a daughter of Charles Francis and Mary (Clendenin) Boggs, was born in VA about 1796 and died in Braxton County in September 1873.

    Charles William Kyer, a son of John and Sarah (Cottle) Kyer, was

born in Nicholas County WV May 21, 1828 and died August 12, 1892. He

married Sarah Morton about 1851. Sarah died about 1860 and Charles

married Emeline Morton July 31, 1862. Emeline, a daughter of Thomas and

Rebecca (Burns) Morton, was in Highland County VA January 20, 1847 and

died in Webster County Wv September 23, 1923.

    John D. Kyer, a son of John and Sarah (Cottle) Kyer, was born in

Nicholas County VA (WV) about 1835 and died in Roane County VA February

15, 1909.  He married Martha J. O'Flaherty in Nicholas County July 26,

1859.  Martha was born in Botetourt County VA in 1837.

    John enlisted in Co C 17th VA Cavalry (CSA) August 25, 1862 at

Hillsboro, VA.  He was taken prisoner in Nicholas County November 16,

1863 and received at Camp Chase in Ohio November 28, 1863.  He was

transferred to Fort Delaware February 29, 1863.

    The couple moved from Nicholas County VA to Roane County VA (WV)

about 1861.

    Lewis served the Union in the Civil War in CO F 10th W.Va.

Volunteer Infantry.

Dora, a daughter of Silas and Isabella (Fulknier) Hunley, was born in

Greenbrier County September 16, 1879 and died in Nicholas County of

typhoid in 1902.

    James married Lillie LeVertio Ann "Vertie" Case March 24, 1903.

Lillie, a daughter of James Baty and Nancy Agnes (Cutlip) Case, was born

October 6, 1886.

born July 30, 1854 and died in 1915.  He married Mary Louise Baker in Braxton County WC July 23, 1887.  Mary, a daughter of John Cyrus and Mary Elizabeth (Sanders) Baker, was born May 17, 1852 and died in December 1938.

       Perry A. Kyer, a son of Lewis and Martha (Riffle) Kyer, was born in VA in March 1851. He married Susanna J. Wiehart in Braxton County WV August 9, 1874. Susanna was born in WV in July 1844.

       The family is listed in the 1900 Braxton County WV Census. They had been married 26 years. Susanna was the mother of 7 children, with 5 living.

She married a widower, Marion Lee Cottrill, in Calhoun County WV February 26, 1891. Marion, a son of Evan T. and Catharine (Nichols) Cottrell, was born in Gilmer County WV in 1870 and died before 1893. He married Martha Dobbins in Gilmer County December 31, 1887. Mary was 18 years old and Martha was 16. Martha died before 1891.

    Lucy married William Henderson Cottrill in Gilmer County WV May 4,

1893 or June 2, 1893. William Henderson Cottrell, a son of Solomon and Sarah (Simmons) Cottrell, was born in Gilmer County WV about 1868.

    John married Mrs. Mary J. Schoolcraft November 7, 1909. Mary died January 26, 1933.

Lena Ester (Mullenax) Buckbee, was born in Lewis County February 11,

1907 and died there August 8, 1990.
