Matthew Geary was born in Down County, Ireland May 10, 1790

and died in Roane County WV January 24, 1865. He came to America

and married Elizabeth Ashley. Elizabeth, a daughter of John and

Mary (Alford) Ashley, was born in 1809 and died in Roane County

in 1894.

was born April 25, 1837 in present day Roane County WV and died

there in 1917. He married Phoebe Elmira Carper in Roane County Va

(WV) December 28, 1860. Phoebe, a daughter of Nicholas and Sarah

(Nida) Carper, was born in Giles County Va June 10, 1837 and died

in Roane County WV March 7, 1909.
