     William Engle, a son of Solomon and Sarah Engle, was born in 1825

in VA and died in Gilmer County. He married Tabitha Dorcas Criss in

Barbour County VA January 7, 1846. Tabitha, a daughter of Henry and

Phebe (Ward) Criss, was born October 12, 1823 in Barbour County, VA

(WV), and died January 04, 1906 in Gilmer County WV.

     In the 1900 Gilmer County WV census, Tabitha is listed in the

household of her son Caleb.

     John Wesley Engle, a son of William and Tabitha (Criss) Engle, was

born January 07, 1847 in Barbour County VA (WV) and died October 24,

1930 in Preston County, WV.   He married Rhonda Jane (Goff) Shay.

Rhonda, a daughter of Salathiel and Catherine (Shahan) Goff, was born

October 29, 1845 in Preston County, WV, and died 1945.  He married Loell

Marteney November 01, 1874 in Barbour County. Loell, a daughter of

Dolbear and Caroline (Reger) Marteney,  was born September 08, 1858 in

Barbour County and died there March 15, 1878.

     John married Lucy Jane Zinn March 23,  1881 in Barbour County.

Lucy, a daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth (Carlin) Zinn, was born May 06,

1851 in Barbour County (WV) and died there July 07, 1896.

    John Wesley Engle was united with the Methodist Espiscopal Church

at the age of 14 and was licensed to preach on June 11, 1889.

    Henry Evert Engle, a son of William Engle, was born in Barbour

County VA (WV) September 30, 1849 and died in Gilmer County WV in 1933.

He married Julia P. Lloyd October 29, 1885.  Julia, a daughter of Isaac

Hyer and Catherine Mary (McPherson) Lloyd, was born in Gilmer County VA

(WV) August 7, 1862 and died there in 1951.

    Henry set Mrs. Ellen (Ruddell) King's poem "The West Virginia Hills"

to music.  It was copyrighted in 1886 and became the state song of WV

February 3, 1961.

was born in 1856 in Barbour County, VA (WV), and died in 1930 in Gilmer

County, WV.  He married Abigail Holbert in Gilmer County February 26,

1878. Abigail, a daughter of John S. and Anna Holbert, was born in

Gilmer County about 1856.

was born August 17, 1875 in Barbour County, WV and died February 05,

1961 in Gilmer County, WV.  He married Margie Ann Miller February 12,

1900 in Gilmer county. Margie, a daughter of Preston and Rebecca (Wiant)

Miller, was born January 13, 1875 in Gilmer County and died there

September 29, 1952.

Belle Rider December 28, 1910.  Ora, a daughter of Melville Brooks and

Barbara Ann (McElwain) Rider, was born April 26, 1887 and died March

10, 1976.

27, 1926 in Gilmer County. Odbert, a son of Patterson N. and Eliza

Sophronia (Bosworth) Waggoner, was born in May 1890, and died July 1963.

Gilmer County, Tanner,  WV.

Ora Blaine Engle Jr., a son of Ora Blaine and Elma Virginia (Whiting) Engle, was born in Gilmer County WV November 5, 1915 and died in Harrison County WV May 17, 2007. He married Yvonne ---. His second wife was Eleanor June Lowther. Both wives preceded him in death.

Ora was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

in Wood County.
