1.WILLIAM EARL DODRILL

William Earl "English Bill" Dodrill was born about 1750. He

married a window Rebecca (Lewis) Daugherty in Greenbrier County VA

July 23, 1782. Rebecca, a daughter of George and Mary Lewis, was born

in Augusta County VA about 1755. She had married John Daugherty in

Greenbrier County VA June 22, 1779. The family moved Greenbrier

County VA in 1784, but by 1790 Indian pressure caused them to move to

Clendenin's fort at the mouth of the Elk River. By 1799 they moved to

what is now Boggs, in Webster County, WV, in 1799.

William's original name was "Doddridge" and he is listed under

that name on the Kanawha County tax rolls for 1799. Greenbrier County

records also list "William Doddridge" as the second husband of Rebecca

Lewis.

Sarah Dodrill, a daughter of James and Elizabeth (Gregory)

Dodrill, was born in Virginia about 1822. She married Joel Dobbins.

Joel, a son of Samuel and Mary (Hamrick) Dobbins, was born in Virginia

about 1816. Joel was enlisted in Co. "G" 10th W.Va, Infantry May 3,

1862 by Captain Carr at Bulltown, WV and was mustered October 4, 1862

for three years. He died at the U.S. General Hospital at Grafton, WV

January 25, 1864 of consumption. He was described as being 45 years

old, dark complexion, blue eyes dark hair and 5 feet 11 inches tall.

He was last paid to include August 31, 1863. Sarah apparently died

between 1861 and 1870, since their two youngest children are listed in

the household of Jacob Riffle in the 1870 Braxton County WV census.

James Chambers Dodrill, a son of William Christian and Sarah

(Hamrick) Dodrill, was born in Braxton County VA (WV) January 10, 1846

and died in McCloud, OK July 29, 1908. He married Maria Naomi Hamrick

June 4, 1874. Maria, a daughter of Benjamin and Naomi (Mollohan)

Hamrick, was born December 10, 1856 and died in OK May 3, 1942.

James and Mariah were cousins and grew up near each other. In 1874,

when his family moved to Nebraska, he returned to WV and stayed with

friends he knew as a child. He often visited the home of his Uncle Ben,

where he got to know Mariah.They were married that year, and when the

family returned to Nebraska in 1875, James and Mariah went with them.

They settled at Lincoln, near where their family had settled. In 1878,

they moved to Robbers Roost Creek, in Rooks County KS on a farm near the

creek.

In 1890, along with other members of the family, moved to the

territory opened up by the Government and settled in Oklahoma City,

later moving to McCloud, OK where they lived until their deaths.

(Hamrick) Dodrill, was born in Nicholas County VA February 17, 1853

and died September 30, 1933. He married Mary Lucinda Baughman October

2, 1878. Mary was born May 11, 1857 and died November 17, 1944.
