1.THOMAS CONNELL
Thomas Connell
was born in Ireland in 1825 and died in Lewis County
WV in 1899. He married Anne Duffy in County Roscommon
Ireland April 30,
1854. Anne was born in Ireland in 1835 and died in Lewis
County in 1910.
Thomas and Anne
Connell are buried in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery
on the Loveberry Road, near Weston, WV. Thomas's obituary
reads in
part: "Thomas Connell saw the light of day in County
Roscommon, Ireland:
and upon attaining manhood, like many thousands of his
countrymen,
emigrated to this country: He accepted cheerfully the
hardships of those
early days, and by constant effort succeeded where many
would have
failed, and when the sun of his life had set, as heritage
to his sons
and daughters, he left an unsullied name, an exile of an
honest life
well spent and a substantial home. He was a consistent Christian
and a
God fearing man. He was consistent in all things; strong
in his likes
and dislikes; ever mindful of a favor, but quick to
resent an injury;
such was the personality of the deceased. As a citizen he
was law
abiding and of strict integrity: as a neighbor ever kind
and charitable;
he was highly esteemed by all who knew him."
