Various spellings for this name include Castor, Caster and in some

records this name is interchanged with Carter.

1.JAMES CASTOR

James Castor, was one of three brothers (others were Thomas, who

went West and Vincent, who settled in Maryland ) who came from Wales

in the last of the 18th century, and settled near the present city of

Clarksburg, WV. James was born in 1747 and died in 1836. He married

Drusilla Castor, born 1755, died 1848. They had a family of ten

children, six sons and four daughters. Two of the sons died in

infancy. The daughters married and remained in Virginia (WV); but in

1832, James Castor, his wife, and four sons went to Ohio to make

their home. James and his wife, are buried in the old cemetary near

Radcliff Station, Vinton County, Ohio.

David Castor, the son of James and Drusilla (Castor) Castor,

married Mary Gregory on October 6, 1806 in Harrison Co., VA. David

appears in the 1810 and 1820 census for Harrison County, VA. He died

in 1821.

7.LEWIS CASTOR 1.JAMES CASTOR

Lewis Castor was born in 1798 and died in 1852, the son of James

and Drusilla (Castor) Castor. In Harrison Co., VA, he married May 9,

1818, Elizabeth McLaughlin, the step-daughter of Benjamin White.

She was born in 1798 and died in 1882. After Lewis's death,

Elizabeth, married Joseph McGinniss. Lewis Castor and Elizabeth

(McLaughlin) [Castor] McGinniss are buried in the old cemetery near

Radcliff Station, Vinton County, OH. No known children.

8.SAMUEL S. CASTOR 1.JAMES CASTOR

Samuel S. Castor, a son of James and Drusilla (Castor) Castor, was born in Harrison County VA November 1, 1801 and died in Meigs County OH September 1, 1853. He married Margaret Pritchard January 30, 1821 in Harrison County VA. Margaret, a daugher of Thomas and Nancy (Tichenal) Pritchard, was born in Allegany County MD September 26, 1801 and died in May 11, 1870 in Meigs County OH. The family is listed in the 1850 Lewis County VA. Margaret and five of her children appear in the 1860 census of Meigs County, OH. Samuel and Margaret are buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Meigs County OH.

Castor, was born 1815 in Harrison County, VA. She married Thomas

Webb, born 1809, the son of John and Elizabeth (Harris) Webb.

Thomas and Drusilla were married on February 7, 1833 in Harrison

County, VA.

died there December 13, 1868. He was the son of John and Elizabeth

(Harris) Webb.

She was the daughter of Pheba Cheuveront. After the death of Elizabeth, he married Mariam Young, on April 25, 1872 in Harrison County, WV.
