The Carsons originated in Scotland. They had moved to Northern

Ireland, where land was cheap. They gained the right to worship as

Presbyterians but had forfiet the right to hold political office.

The Ulster Presbyterians or "Scotch-Irish" were well represented

in Colonial America. Seeking political freedom as well as

land, the Carsons along with many others had made thier

way into America. The Carsons may have arrived in this country as early

as 1680. By 1700 they were pushing thier way up the rivers from the

seacoast to the "Back Country" in search of homes.

Isaac Carson, a son of Henry and Susannah Carson, was born in

1743. He married Rebecca Hogshead in 1765. Rebecca was a daughter of

John and Nancy (Wallace) Hogshead.

Isaac Served the Colonies in the American Revolution in Captain

Trimble's company from 1776 to 1779.
