    Ursi Allman (Alleman) was born about 1660 at Ligsdorf, Haut-Rhin,

Alsace, France. He married Annea Mullerin about 1685. Anna was born

about l663.

2.JACOB ALLMAN   1.URSI ALLMAN

 

    Jacob Allman, a son of Ursi and Annea (Mullerin) Allman, was born

July 27, 1685 at Ligsdorf, Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France. He is reported to

have died in the autumn of 1768 in present day Lehigh County PA, but

after October 6, 1768.

    Jacob is reported to have been married first to Margareta ---, but

no children from this marriage have been identified.

    Jacob's second wife was Anna Maria Balliet. She was the daughter of

Stephen and Maria Catherine (Schweitzer) Balliet. She was born March 1,

1708, and baptized in Schalbach, Alsace, France. She was killed by

Captain Bull's Indians in PA October 8 or 9 1in 1768. This was the same

attack in which Captain Jacob Weatherholt was killed.

    Jacob and Anna Maria and family emigrated from Alsace, France,

arriving on the ship "Two Brothers" Thomas Amett, Master. They sailed

from Rotterdam with one stop in Leith, Scotland. They landed at

Philadelphia, October 27, 1747 and settled at the Forks of the Delaware.

Jacob took the Oath of Allegiance in Northampton County, PA, on October

6, 1765.

     Jacob received a grant of fifty nine acres of land in

Bucks County, PA December 29, 1748. They settled in Whitehall Turnpike,

Northampton County, now Lehigh County, PA.

    Johann Jacob (Jacob Jr.) Allman, a son of Jacob and Anna Maria

(Balliet) Allman, was born 26 April 1730 and died 1 June

1790. He was born in Schalback, Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France April 26, 1730

and died June 1, 1790 in Frederick County, VA (now Jefferson County,

WV). He immigrated to Philadelphia October 27, 1747 on the ship "Two

Brothers". He initially settled with his parents at The Forks of the

Delaware, then moved with them to Northampton County, PA. He received a

land grant of twenty-five acres, December 29, 1748. Jacob took the Oath

of Allegiance with his father in Northampton County, PA, October 6.

1765. He married Elizabeth Barbara -----

    Jacob and his family left Northampton County, PA about 1768 and

settled at the head of the Bullskin in Frederick County, VA (now

Jefferson County, WV). The Alleman and Riley families are reported to

have been the first to settle in that area. Jacob was a prominent

citizen in the county and a wagon maker by trade.

    William Allman, a son of Johann Jacob and Elizabeth Barbara Allman,

was born in Northampton County PA about 1755 and died in Lewis County VA

(WV) between May 27, 1827 and July 1827.

    William finally settled He settled on upper Fink's Run in present

day Upshur County WV. He was among the earliest settlers coming from the

South Branch Valley to Hacker's Creek, VA (WV) circa 1770. He would have

been about sixteen or seventeen years old.

    In the 1800 US census, William listed living in Randolph County, VA.

In the 1810 census he was living in Harrison County, VA.

    William married Elizabeth Weatherholt, a daughter of Captain

Johann Nicholas and Catherine Elizabeth (Dormeyer) Weatherholt. After

his marriage, William was living in Brock's Gap, in present day

Rockingham County, VA with Captain Johann Nicholas Weatherholt. He

inherited part of his father-in-law's land prior to 1799.

    Elizabeth (Weatherholt) Allman is believed to have died sometime

around 1795. William is believed to have married her sister, Sophia

Weatherholt, who was born October 13, 1773 and died about 1799.

    William married Elizabeth Martin.

Allman, was born March 24, 1789 in Hardy County VA and died in Lewis

County October 13, 1825. Peter married Catherine Sims December 20, 1813.

Catherine, a daughter of William and Susannah Sims, was born in

Rockingham County VA in 1793.

in the 1850 Lewis County Va census. By 1860, Upshur County VA had been

formed and Abram was listed in that county. He had married Barbara Cutright February 23, 1851. Barbara, a daughter of Peter and Nancy W. (Westfall) Cutright, was born about 1830.

    The Joseph Shouldis family was living on Stonecoal Creek in Lewis

County VA (WV) in 1836.  By 1853, they had moved to present day Roane

County WV.

    David Stanton Allman, a son of Peter David and Catherine (Sims)

Allman, was born in Lewis County VA (WV) May 25, 1825 and died there

October 23, 1893. He married Jeanetta Echard in Lewis County September

1, 1847. Jeanetta, a daughter of Jacob Jr. and Sarah (Brooks) Echard,

was born in Lewis County in 1830 and died there February 9, 1873.

    David married Virginia "Bertie" Butcher in Lewis County November 15,

1873. Virginia, a daughter of Jesse and Lucinda (Bonnett) Butcher, was

born in VA January 29, 1846 and died September 13, 1924.

    David was a captain in the Civil War. He served in the 192nd

Regiment, Company A, Lewis County, (West) VA, State Militia. He operated

a freight service with over one hundred wagons before and during the

Civil War. He served a term as sheriff of Lewis County.

    George W. Allman, a son of James Madison and Elizabeth (Bonnett)

Allman, was born in Lewis County VA in January 1839 and died in Lewis

County April 3, 1905. He married Virginia Batten December 6, 1860.

Virginia, a daughter of Richard and Nancy Ann (Smith) Batten, was born

November 18, 1839 and died January 11, 1913. They are buried in Swecker

Cemetery on Canoe Run in Lewis County.

and Martha Margaret (Smith) Swisher, was born in Lewis County VA July 6,

1840 and died there January 27, 1918.

Allman, was born August 13, 1859 on Bloody Run of Hacker's Creek, in

Lewis County, VA (WV) and died August 30, 1927. He married Nancy Luella

Hall November 12, 1884. Nancy, a  daughter of James Monroe  and

Elizabeth Catherine (Lovett) Hall, was born in Lewis County August 3,

1868 and died February 19, 1927.

Martha is listed as a widow in the 1930 Gilmer county WV census.
