Descendants of Abraham Pierson
This page is dedicated to the descendants of Abraham PIERSON and Abigail CLARKE. Abraham was born 1640/1641 in Lynn, Essex County, Massachusettes and died 5 May 1707 in Old Killingsworth (now Clinton), Middlesex County, Connecticut. He was the son of Abraham PIERSON and Abigail MITCHELL. About 1671 in Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut he married Abigail CLARKE. She was the daughter of Geroge CLARKE and Sarah _?_. Abigail was born 29 Jan 1654 in Milford, New Haven County, Connecticut and died 15 Mar 1696 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut. Abraham graduated from Harvard College in 1668. He was ordained and installed as a minister at his father's church in Newark, New Jersey in 1669 and was made co-pastor in 1672. He succeeded his father at his death in 1678. Following a break with the church in Newark due to theological differences (he was "too presbyterian in outlook"), he became the minister at Killingsworth (now Clinton), Connecticut in 1694 ans was later active in founding Yale College. He was elected as its first Rector (President) on 11 Nov 1701 and served until his death in 1707.

1. Sarah PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1675 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey and died before 1734. On 16 Nov 1708 she married Stephen HAND.
2. Susannah PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1677 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. On 24 Aug 1696 she married Benjamin BISHOP.
3. Abraham PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1680 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey and died 8 Jan 1752 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut. On 1 Feb 1710 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut he married (1) Mary SHEATHER the daughter of Samuel SHEATHER and Mary DURANT. Mary was born 17 Sept 1689 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut and died 28 Feb 1709 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut. On 9 May 1716 Abraham married (2) Sarah ROSSITER and on 15 May 1736 he married (3) Mary HART. Abraham was an old colonial magistrate in Connecticut. He died on Long Hill in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut.
4. Mary PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1683 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. She married Joseph LYON.
5. James PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1685 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey and died 26 Jan 1750 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut. On 18 Jan 1733 he married Abiah BRISTOL.
6. Hannah PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1687 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. She married Isaac LYON.
7. John PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1689 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey and died 3 Aug 1770 in East Hanover, Morris County, New Jersey. On 18 Jul 1716 in Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey he married (1) Ruth WOODBRIDGE. After 1733 he married (2) Judith SMITH.
8. Ruth PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1693 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. She married John FRENCH.
9. Abigail PIERSON (Abraham) born about 1696 in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey. About 1717 she married Daniel BROWN.

Abigail was born 12 Sept 1714 in Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut and died 13 Feb 1769. She was the daughter of John HOADLEY and Mercy CRANE. On 25 Oct 1769 Jedeiah married (2) Patience _?_.
2. Mary PIERSON (Abraham, Abraham) born 10 Feb 1713 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut and died 13 Dec 1795 in Killingsworth, Middlesex County, Connecticut.
