Name Variation Dorothea Catherine Rosswag was also found as Dorothea Rosway.1and as Dorothea Roseway.2   The name appears as Roßwag is Germany data.

Birth 25 Jan1831 Dorothea Catherina was born on 25 January 1831 at Nussbaum, Baden, Germany.3,4,5,16
From a letter from CINDY KING MORIN relaying info told her by Edith Fehrenbach Morin, granddaughter of this woman, Edith  believed that the ROSEWAG FAMILY came to the US in a small boat that took 30 days to cross the Atlantic. Whether before or after the birth of Dorothea is not stated.6  Addition information has come to light in recent years that somewhat  supports this.  Her parents died between 1843 and 1846.  Dorothea came to this county with her sister's Rosina and Barbara.  Brother Philipp came later.  It took the Ship Carolus a bit more than 30 days to cross.  George Henry Feldman was also on this ship. He left his home town in March and the ship left LeHarve in    arriving in New York 9 August 1854.

Their is also a "family legend" that  Dorothea Rosewag and George Henry Feldman came to this country together. George Henry came about 1854.7  Dorothea Roßwag arrived in the United States at the port of New York on 9 Aug 1854  aboard the Carolus Magnus out of LeHarve, France.  She is listed as 24 years old and from Baden, Germany.  George Henry Feldman appears on the manifest just before Dorothea!!!!  There is also a Barbara Roßway, the next entry.  Barbara is 15 years old.  She is a sister of Dorothea  This ship had let some passengers off in Boston before arrival in New York.  Why is Sister  Rosina not listed on this manifest and yet shows on the emmigration list from Germany???

Rosa K. Feldman, a daughter of Dorothea,  says her mother was born in Philadelphia and her father born in Germany. IF she was born in 1831 then her people had to arrive in the United States before 1831.8  THIS IS PATENTLY INCORRECT!!  The 1870 census does not agree with this.  Dorothea claims to have been born in Germany on that census.

Joan Schmits thinks that she may belong to the family of Augustine Rosswag and his father Michael who came to this county in 1840 from Engingen, Baden, Germany. They went to Rock Island and Quincy, Illinois.9  Bears investigation.

Marriage 29 Jan 1855 Dorothea Rose Rosewag, 23 years old, married George Henry Feldman, who was 28 years old, son of Jacob Feldman and Salome Argast, September 1854 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.3,4,1  A date for this marriage has been Sept of 1854 but the records of Saint Michaels and Zion church in Philadelphia indicate that this marriage occurred on 29 Jan 1855.
