Jean DeRainville was also found as Jean Rainville.  This surname has morphed into Ranville over the years.  It may have been that originally,  as there is an area in Normandy where there remains today a well known town of Ranville, in the Department of Vosges where hundreds of Canadian soldiers killed during the Normandy invasion in WWII are buried in an international war cemetery. Building foundations in Ranville, Normandy date back to Roman times.
Birth 1638 Jean was born in 1638 at Touques, Lisieux, Normandy, France.1,2

1665 His father Paul came to Beauport in New France with his family in 1665. They had four children that came with them.

Marriage #1 26 July 1665 Jean DeRainville married Suzanne Badeau, who was 13 years old, daughter of Jacques Badeau, 26 July 1665 in Notre Dame of Quebec city, Quebec, Canada. They had one son Jean born 23 Aug 1666 and d December of 1723 in Beauport. This son Jean,  married Marguerite Vallée-LaVallée and had 6 children. Some say that their were two more children but do not gives names. (undocumented sources).1

Wife, Suzanne died in Dec 1669 in Beauport, Quebec. Canada.
Marriage#2 26 Oct 1671 Jean DeRainville married **Elizabeth de la Guéripierre, daughter of **Jean de la Guéripierre and **GabrielleBouteiller , 26 October 1671 in Quebec, Quebec, Canada. They had at least 8  children, not all of whom are followed.1
