Many colonists of the name Morin came from France to Canada. One of the first of these colonists is Noël Morin who came originating in Brie-Count-Robert, in Brie, France. Arrived to Quebec about 1632, of living even of Champlain, founder of Quebec ABOUT THE TIME OF CHAMPLAIN, Noël Morin lived in the old capital until 1663, whereas the governor of Lauzon conceded the stronghold of St-Luc to him, in the current parish of Montmagny, thus creating it " Lord of St-Luc ". Noël Morin left four wire SONS : three founded hearth HOMES or FAMILIES and two of them added to their name Morin the nicknames Rochebelle and Valcour. This Valcour nickname is perpetuated by the rock of this name located in the vicinity of Montmagny.
