Explanation: The District of West Augusta (1774-1776) was divided by the Virginia Assembly October 1776 into the counties of Ohio, Yohogania and Monongalia. To gather wills and inventories of people dying in this section while it was under Virginia's jurisdiction, the court houses of Ohio County, West Virginia (as Wheeling) and Monongalia County, West Virginia (at Morgantown) and of Washington County, PA. (at Washington, PA) were visited (this last for residents of Yohogania County). Those of PA are in Volume of Wills at Washington, PA 1778-1786), and a list from "Old Virginia Wills in Washington County PA" appearing in Boyd Crumrine's "Records of Deeds for the District of West Augusta, Virginia" --Annals of Carnegie Museum (of Pittsburg), Part 2, Vol. 111.
