On this 12th day of March, 1844, personally appeared before me James Foster --- a Justice of the Peace for the County and State aforesaid, Ann Harrison, a resident of the County and State aforesaid, aged ninety years and thirty days, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress passed July 4th 1836. That she is the widow of Barzillia Harrison who was a private in the draughted Malitia of the State of North Carolina, in the Revolutionary War, that he intered the army of the Revolution as a draughted malitia man, in the month of January 1781, but the day of the month she cannot remember, that he entered the service in the company commanded by Captain Samuel Dyer, and William Adkin, Lieutenant. His field officers she is unable to specify. She thinks he was in the Army commanded by Gen. Gates. Her said husband continued in the service under the same company officers, eight months, and as well as she remembers he served under only one term of engagement, but she is certain as to the length of the term of his service. Her said husband resided in Surry Court House. She state that her said husband was in the battle of Camden as she always understood from him, and as she always believed. She is unable to state the country through which her husband marched, not having been along with him in his marches. She has no documentary evidence in support of her claim to a pension. She further declares that she was married to the said Barzillia Harrison on the 12th day of December, 1775, which date she is able to state positively and accurately she believes, from a record of her marriage in her possession, made by her said husband in his own hand writing, shortly after it took place, that her husband, the aforesaid Barzillia Harrison, died in Bedford County in the State of Tennessee, where he had removed. He died in 1817, but she cannot state the day or month of his death, her memory not serving her and having no record of the date, and she states that she has remained a widow ever since the death of her said husband, as will more fully appear by reference to the proof accompanying this declaration.

I, James Foster, a Justice of the Peace for the County aforesaid, certify that Ann Harrison appeared before me, at her residence, on the day and date above specified, and made the foregoing declaration, being too aged and infirm to go to court to make it. Given under my hand this 19th day of March, 1844.

On this 29th day of September, 1846 personally before me James Foster an acting Justice of the Peace, in the foresaid County, Mrs. Ann Harrison, a resident of said County, aged ninety two years, who doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provisions made by the Acts of Congress July 4th, 1836 and July 7th 1838 and 3rd March 1843 and 17th June 1844, that she is the widow of Barzillia Harrison who was a soldier from Surry County North Carolina in the war of the Revolution and served as stated by her in a former declaration which she made in 1843 or 1844 which declaration was sent to the war office by C. Ready. She further declares that she was married to the said Barzallia Harrison on the 12th December Seventeen Hundred and seventy five in Bedford County, Virginia, that her husband the said Barzillia Harrison died in April, 1817, that since his death she has not intermarried but still remains his widow. She further states that the annexed family record is the same record which contains the correct dates of her marriage and of the births of her children and is in the hand writing of her husband the said Barzillia Harrison, that she also has attached a certification of David (?) Thomas certifying to her husbands having taken the oath of alleagous (allegiance) that the officers under whom her husband servied was Capt. Samuel Dyer, Lt., Wm. Atkins.

I, James Foster an acting Justice of the Peach in and for said County, do hereby certify that I am well acquainted with Mrs. Ann Harrison who has this day appeared and made oath to the above declaration before me. That she is a woman of truth and veracity, that full faith and evidence is seen and ought to be given to her statements and I further certify that she is the same Ann Harrison who was qualified some three or four years ago to a declaration in order to get a pension and further I certify that from old age and bodily infirmity, she is not able to attend the Court in order to make this declaration in open Court. James Foster, JP this 29 September, 1846.
The last page of this record was a partial copy of what looked like a page from a Bible, most of which as illegible. Barzilla Harrison's name was clearly written on the left side of this record, and in the upper right of the page was the date 1751, perhaps his birth date. At the bottom of the page was written: Temperance Harrison, the first daughter of Barzilai and Ann his wife was born November (?) 1776. Richard Harrison the first son of Barzilia Harrison and Ann his wife was born November the 9th, 1778.
