BARBADOS AND THE HARRISON FAMILY

Most of us spend a lot of time looking in unlikely places for our ancestors. BARBADOS was one of the most unlikely that I could think of. However, I recently discovered that the Harrison family was established there prior to 1638. At that time Edward and William Harrison were known to have been resident landowners.

Apparently few, if any Harrison's live there today; but they were very much in evidence in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. So for those of us who are having trouble establishing the origin of our family HARRISON the following records of census, baptisms, marriages and deaths are printed here:

A Census of the inhabitants of Barbados taken in 1679 contains the following particulars of the Harrison families then resident in the island.
