• Lease dated October 4, 1732, between George HICKS and Sarah, his wife, of Surry County, and Daniel CARROLL of Prince George County, concerning parcel of land on Poplar Creek, which was: granted to Daniel HICKS, by Letters Patent bearing date of October 31, 1726. Presented to Court on October 5, 1732. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 12. Release portion begins page 13. Lease dated October 4, 1732, between George HICKS of Surry County and Alexander SINNEY of Prince George County, Clerk, for 260 acres on South side of Maherrin River "fork of the first Great Creek above Christiana Fort. Reference of Letters Patent bearing date at Williamsburgh of October 13, 172 . Signed by George and Sarah HICKS. Presented to Court on October 5, 1733. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 15. • Indenture dated October 8, 1732, between Jarvis WINFIELD of Surry County, and Moses DUNKLEY of Brunswick County, for 200 acres on both sides of Waguy Creek on the South side of the Nottoway River. Presented to Court on November 2, 1732. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 30. Indenture dated August, 1733, between Thomas WILSON and Amy, his wife, to James Loftin. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 43.
• Gift Deed from Elizabeth IRVIN of St. Andrews Parish, dated August 30, 1733, for love and affection to son­in­law, Robert HICKS, Jr., 420 acres on South side of Meherin River (names John PETERSON and William AULDRIDGE in property description). Witnessed by Burrell BROWN, John LEONARD and Batt PETERSON. Presented in Court on October 4, 1733. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 80.
• Lease between Burrell BROWN and Mary, his wife, and John Taylor DUKE, dated February 6, 1733. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 106.
• Mortgage Deed dated the 7th day of November, 1734, from Drury STITH of Brunswick County to Robert BOLLING of Prince George<County, for 86 pounds, 4 shillings and 3 pence, secured by 6 Negroes. Witnessed by Stephen DEWEY, George WALTON, and Moses DUNKLEY. Presented in Court on November 7, 1734. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 132.
• Mortgage Deed dated the 7th day of November, 1734, from Drury STITH to Robert BOLLING, Administrator of the Estate of Drury BOLLING, late of the County of Prince George, dec'd., for 38:pounds, 11 shillings, 9 pence and half penny, secured by 3 Negroes. Witnessed by Stephen DEWEY, George WALTON, and Moses DUNKLEY. Presented in Court on November 7, 1734. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 133.
• Lease dated the 3rd day of February, 1734, between John RAY and Robert HIX, Jr., for 195 acres. Presented in Court on February 6, 1734. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 152. Release dated the 4th day of February, 1734, begins on page 153.
• Gift Deed from Robert HIX, Senr. of St. Andrews Parish in Brunswick County dated July 7, 1734, for "especially for and in consideration of the true love and natural affection which I bear to Samuel CLARK, Jr. of the parish and county aforesaid" conveying land to Samuel CLARK, Jr., containing by estimation 580 acres lying and being on the North side of Roanoke River in the County of Brunswick (description includes Richard JONES' line and Cornelius KEITH). Signed by Robert HIX, Senr. Witnessed by Moses DUNKLEY, Theophilus FEILD and Josias RANDLE. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 165.
• Indenture made the 1st day of April, 1735, between Robert HICKS of Brunswick County on the one part and Thomas JACOBS and Tabetha JACOBS, his wife, daughter to the said Robert HICKS of the other part, for 10 pounds, conveying one certain tract or pearsall (sic) of land containing one hundred acres lying in Brunswick County on the North side of Meherin River, to Thomas JACOBS and Tabetha JACOBS, his wife, for and during their natural life and Ahafter (sic) or their decease unto Thomas JACOBS and John JACOBS, sons to the said Thomas JACOBS and Tabetha, his wife. Signed by Robert HICKS and Frances HICKS. Witnessed by John IRBY and Jane ROBERTS. Presented to Court on the 3rd day of April, 1735. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 167.
• Indenture made the 7th day of April, 1737, between William WALTERS of St. Andrews Parish and Drury STITH, Gentleman, for 20 pounds, conveying 240 acres on South side of Maherrin River. Witnesses were M. Cadet YOUNG, Willm. JONES, and Canduis CARGILL. Presented in Court and acknowledged on April 7, 1737. Deeds and Wills Book 1, page 313.
• Indenture made the 7th day of June, 1738, between Thomas LOYD, Sr., of St. Andrews Parish and Drury STITH, Gentleman, for 50 pounds, conveying 283 acres on lower side of Sturgeon Run on the South side of Nottoway River. Witnesses were James PARRISH and M. Cadet YOUNG. Presented in Court and acknowledged on June 7,1739. Deed Book 1, page 526.
• Indenture made the 2nd day of August, 1739, between Thomas COUCH, Sr., Thomas COUCH, Jr., and Drury STITH, Gentleman, for 30 [?] pounds, conveying 566 acres on the Pine Lick Branch (John STROUD'S corner, Thomas LLOYD'S line, TALBOTT'S line, MORRIS'S corner), same being granted to the said Thomas COUCH, Sr., by Letters of Patent at Williamsburgh, 1720. Witnesses were M. Cadet YOUNG and William EDWARDS. Presented in Court and acknowledged on August 2, 1739. Deed Book 1, page 530.
• Indenture (Lease) made the 1st day May, 1739, between Bird Thomas LANIER and Benjamin LANIER. Deed Book 2, page 7.
• Indenture made the 7th day of August, 1740, between John COOKE and Nathaniel COOKE and Samuel HARWELL, for 20 pounds, conveying 286 acre tract on South side of Stony Hill Run. Witnesses were M. Cadet YOUNG and John STROUD. Acknowledged in Court on August 7, 1740. Deed Book 2, page ___.
• Indenture made the 5th day of March, 1740, between John STROUD, of St. Andrews Parish, Planter, and Drury STITH, Gent. of St. Andrews Parish, for 20 pounds, conveying 196 acres on North side of Sturgeon Run, being part of a larger tract formerly granted to: John STROUD, Sr., and bequeathed to his son, John STROUD. Witnesses were M. Cadet YOUNG, Ralph DUNKLEY, and Matthew MAYO. Acknowledged in Court on March 5, 1740, at which time, Jane STROUD, wife of the said John STROUD, appeared and relinquished her dower interest. Deed Book 2, page 51.
• Indenture made the 2nd day of April, 1741, between William SMITH, Planter, and David WALKER, Gentleman of the Parish of Bristol, County of Prince George, for 20 pounds, conveying 500 acre tract on South side of Roanoke River, being part of a 790 acre tract granted to the said William SMITH by Letters of Patent bearing date of October 13, in the 1st year of the reign of King George, II. Acknowledged in Court in April, 1741. Deed Book 2, page 57.
• Indenture (Lease) made the 6th day of August, 1741, between Gabriel HARRISON of the County of Prince George, and Abraham COOK of the County of Hanover, for 5 shillings, conveying 300 acres on North side of Roanoke River a little below Swan Pond. Witnesses were John DODD and William BAKER. Acknowledged in Court on August;6, 1741. Deed Book 2, page 93. Release begins on page 94.
• Deed of Gift of 1741, from Ambrose JACKSON, Sr. and his son,>Ambros Jackson and son­in­law, Samuel HARWELL, tracts on South side of Little Creek, (1st tract): Beginning at the mouth of a small branch on the Creek aforesaid so running up the said branch to Benjamin HARRISONS line thence up the said Harrisons line to a corner tree of John OGBUN thence along the said OGBUN line to the said Little Creek, so down the said creek to the first station concluding 150 acres. (Other tract): Beginning on the small branch aforesaid running up the said branch to the said Benjamin HARRISONS line so down the said Harrisons line to a corner of William COLLERS land so up the said Collers line to the first Station concluding 150 acres. Being the same land granted to Ambros JACKSON, Sr. by Letters of Patent bearing date of 1732. Witnesses were Thomas LANIER and Wm. COLLIER. Acknowledged in Court on September 3, 1741. • Indenture made the 3rd day of November, in the 15th year of the reign of George, II, between William JONES, Sr. and William MCKENNEY, for 5 pounds, conveying 100 acres on South side of the Pines Branch and being the same land granted to William JONES, Sr. by Letters of Patent bearing date of June 1, in the 14th year of the reign of George, II. Witnesses were John JONES, Sr., John JONES, Jr., and Robt. WHITHALL. Acknowledged in Court on November 5, 1741. Deed Book 2, page 118.
• Indenture (Lease) made the 13th day of November, 1741, between William GOWER and wife, Anne GOWER, and John COLLIER of Prince George County, for tract on Reedy Branch. Witnesses were Nicholas LANIER and John COOKE. Acknowledged in Court on December 3, 1741. Deed Book 2, page 122. Release begins on 124.
• Indenture (Mortgage) made the 27th day of June, 1741, between William STROUD, Planter, and Drury STITH, Gent., conveying 196;acres on both sides of Sturgeon Run and 392 acres which was surveyed for John STROUD, dec'd. in 1729, to secure payment of 12 pounds, 12 shillings and 2 pence. Witnesses were M. Cadet YOUNG, Wm. MACLIN, and Thomas SADLER. Acknowledged in Court on December 3, 1741. Deed Book 2, page 125.
• Indenture made the 3rd day of August, 1742, between James PITTILLO of Bristol Parish, County of Prince George, and John COX of St. Andrews Parish, County of Brunswick, for 30 pounds, conveying 252 acres in the fork of Sturgeon Run, bounded by the line of Gabriel HARRISON and Henry MORRIS and granted to the said James PETTILLO by Letters of Patent bearing date of September 10, 1735. Witnesses were Abraham COCKE and Joshua SMITH. Acknowledged in Court on September 2, 1742. Deed Book 2, page 178.
• Indenture (Lease) made the 4th day of November, 1742, between John JACKSON and Rebecca, his wife, and Robert HICKS of Surry County, for the term of 1 year, tract on North side of Reedy Creek. Witnesses were Edward TATUM, Jesse TATUM and Lucy JACKSON. Acknowledged in Court on November 4, 1742. Deed Book *2, page 192. Release begins on page 194.

• Indenture made the 28th day of February, 1742, between Cornelius KEITH and Thomas TWITTY, for 25 pounds, conveying 100 acres, being same land in that certain deed of gift from Robert HIX,, Sr., late of Brunswick County, dec'd. to the said Cornelius KEITH, dated the 2nd day of May, 1734, and the same being part of a larger tract of land granted to the said Robert HIX in his lifetime. Witnesses were Clement READ, M. Cadet YOUNG, and Thomas LANIER. Acknowledged in Court on March 3, 1742, at which time Elizabeth, wife of the said Cornelius KEITH, appeared and relinquished her dower interest. Deed Book 2, page 236.
• Deed of Gift dated the 7th day of October, 1742, between Lewis PARHAM and James PARHAM, his kinsman, to enjoy the liberty of grinding toll free at the mill. Acknowledged in Court on March 3, 1742. Deed Book 2, page 238.
• Indenture made the 10th day of November, 1740, between Robert MUNFORD of the County of Prince George, Gent. and Anne, his wife, and Sterling CLACK of the County of Brunswick, Gent., for 150 pounds, conveying 1,000 acres being part of a 3,000 acre tract of land purchase of Hodges GOODWYNE, brother and heir at law of Thomas GOODWYNE, dec'd. on the 6th day of June, 1734. Witnesses were David WALKER, Stith HARDAWAY, Robert EVANS, Baxter DAVIE and John TRANT. Acknowledged in Court on April 2, 1742. Deed Book 2, page 258.
• Summons to Theophilus FEILD, Theoderick BLAND, Peter JONES, Hugh MilLer, and Samuel GORDON of Prince George County, Gentlemen, giving them or any two or more of them the power to receive the acknowledgment of Anne MUNFORD. Deed Book 2, page 262.
• Indenture made the 5th day of November, 1742, between Robert MUNFORD of Prince George County, Gent. and Anne, his wife, and James CLACK of Gloucester, Gent., conveying 2,500 acres being the remainder of the tract sold to Sterling CLACK. Deed Book 2, page 272.
• Indenture made the 5th day of May, 1743, between Samuel HARWELL of Prince George County, and Mark HARWELL of Brunswick County, for 5 pounds, conveying 195 acres, being same land granted to Samuel HARWELL by Letters of Patent bearing date of March 23, 1733. Witnesses were Thomas LANIER, Daniel CARRELL and James COLEMAN. Acknowledged in Court on May 5, 1743. Deed Book 2, page 276.
• Indenture made the 5th day of June, 1743, between Benjamin HARRISON of Brunswick County, and Samuel WILSON, for 16 pounds, conveying 238 acres on the head of the great branches of ______ of Reeds Creek as by Letters of Patent granted to the said Benjamin HARRISON, bearing date of November 23, 1742. Acknowledged in Court on May 5, 1742, at which time Elizabeth HARRISON, his wife, appeared and relinquished her dower. Deed Book 2, page 286.
• Deed of Gift dated _____________, from Reaps JONES to his brother, Samuel JONES, conveying 448 acres, being the upper end of Reaps JONES' 806 acre tract on Green Creek. Witnesses were Robert BRIGGS, Mathew MATHIS and John KILGREAS. Acknowledged in Court on July 7, 1743, at which time, Lucretia JONES, wife of Reaps JONES, appeared and relinquished her dower. Deed Book 2, page 333.
• Indenture (Mortgage) made the 13th day of August, 1743, between Drury STITH and Thomas COCKE of Surry County, conveying slaves, to secure payment of 39 pounds, 8 shillings and 5 pence. Witnesses were Robert JONES, Jr. and Thomas LANIER. Acknowledged in Court on November 3, 1743. Deed Book 2, page 375.
• Indenture made the 1st day of March, 1743, between John BROWN of Prince George County, and William EATON, Jr., of Prince George County, for 40 pounds, conveying 200 acres on Freeman's branch, being same land granted to the said John BROWN by Letters of Patent bearing date of February 22, 1724. Witnesses were David WALKER and Anthony HAYNES. Acknowledged in Court on March 1, 1743, at which time Joan BROWN, wife of the said John BROWN, appeared and relinquished her dower. • Indenture made the 21st day of March, 1743, between George BRIGGS of Albemarle Parish, County of Surry, and Sarah, his wife, and:Howell BRIGGS of Albemarle Parish, County of Surry, for 16 pounds, conveying 455 acres on South side of Maherrin River and on Southeast side of Beaver Pond Creek, previously granted to the said George Briggs by Letters of Patent bearing date of July 17, 1726. • Indenture tripartite made the 13th day of March, 1740, between James MUNFORD, William STARK, Theodorick BLAND, Gentlemen of Prince George County, and Benjamin HARRISON of Brunswick County, for 40 pounds, conveying __ hundred and 65 acre tract, being same granted to __________________ by Letters of Patent bearing date of June 16, 172. Witnesses were John WALL, Walter CAMPBELL, Samuel GORDON, and Robert JONES, Jr., and Theophilus FEILD. Acknowledged in Court on ________________, at which time, Elizabeth MUNFORD, wife of the said James MUNFORD, appeared and/relinquished her dower. Deed Book 2, page 425.
• Indenture made the 17th day of February, 1743, between Hugh BOSTON of Amelia County, and Thomas JONES of Amelia County, for 100 pounds, conveying 550 acres on both sides of Ash Camp Creek, being same lands conveyed by Letters of Patent bearing date of March 15, 1741. Acknowledged in Court on April 5, 1744. Deed Book 2, page 444. Indenture made the 5th day of June, 1744, between James HICKS of Brunswick County, and George HICKS of Brunswick County, Gent., for 150 pounds, conveying 810 acres on North side of Maherrin River, being the plantation whereon Capt. Robert HICKS formerly lived and part of the 1,010 acre of land devised by the Last Will and Testament of Robert HICKS to the said James HICKS. Witnesses were Benjamin Chapman DONALDSON, John WALL, Jr., and Henry BEDDINGFIELD. Acknowledged in Court on June 7, 1744, at which time, Martha HICKS, wife of the said James HICKS, appeared and/relinquished her dower. Deed Book 2, page 474.
• Indenture made the 1st day of June, 1744, between James HICK and Benjamin SEAWELL, for 16 pounds, conveying 200 acres on North side of the Great Branch at James WYCHES path. Witnesses were John WALL, Jr., George HICKS, and Henry BEDDINGFIELD. Acknowledged in Court on June 7, 1744, at which time Martha HICKS, wife of the said James HICKS, appeared and relinquished her dower. Deed Book 2, page 476.
• Indenture made the 2nd day of August, 1744, between John ANDREWS, of Surry County, and Benjamin HARRISON of Brunswick County, conveying 274 acres on South side of Great Creek and on both sides of the Mill Creek, and being the same lands granted to John ANDREWS by Letters of Patent bearing date of July 25, 1741. Names of the witnesses were not given. Acknowledged in Court on (August 2, 1744. Deed Book 2, page 478. Bond of John PETERSON to Charles HIX, dated August 2, 1744, for 50 pounds, concerning purchase of 261 acre tract of land by Charles HIX from John BISHOP of North Carolina and Christian BISHOP, wife of the said John BISHOP. • Indenture made the 16th day of ________, 1744, between Benjamin HARRISON of Surry County, and Susanna, his wife, and Nathaniel HARRISON of Prince George County, and Mary, his wife, and John WILLIS of Gloucester County, Gent., for 668 pounds, 1 shilling, and 6 pence, conveying 3,265 acres on both sides of Three Creeks formerly in Surry County, and being same lands granted to Nathaniel HARRISON, Esq. by Letters of Patent bearing date of November 18, 1724; 625 acre tract of land on South side of Little Creek of the Three Creeks formerly in Surry County, and being same land granted to Nathaniel HARRISON, Esq., dec'd. by Letters of Patent bearing date of December 14, 1723; 425 acre tract on South side of Three Creek and on North side of ______ Creek, being same lands granted to James WASHINGTON by Letters of Patent bearing date of February 22, 1722, and sold by the said James WASHINGTON to Nathaniel HARRISON, Esq., dec'd.; 490 acre tract on both side of Maherrin River, being same lands granted to David CRAWLEY, now deceased, by Letters of Patent bearing date of February 18, 1722, and sold to Nathaniel HARRISON, Esq., dec'd.; 130 acre tract on North side of Maherrin River granted to David CRAWLEY by Letters of Patent bearing date of February 22, 1724 and by David CRAWLEY was given and devised to Nathaniel HARRISON, Esq., dec'd. and devised to Benjamin HARRISON by the Last Will and Testament of Nathaniel HARRISON, Esq., dec'd., dated December 15, 1726 ; and 240 acre tract on Uriah's Branch, according to a survey of land made for Benjamin HARRISON by Drury STITH, dated January ___, 17__. Witnesses were Nathaniel EDWARDS, William SKIPWITH, Fal SKIPWITH, Augt. CURTIS, John EMERLEY, Thos. EMERLEY. Acknowledged receipt of money from John WILLIS paid by the hands of his father, Col. • Indenture made the ___ day of ____________, 174_, between Benjamin JONES and Constance, his wife, of Prince George County, Mauris GILLS and Luce, his wife, William BISHOP, and Amy, his wife, and Joseph CARTER, conveying land granted to Henry PEBLES, father of the said Constance JONES, Luce GILLS, and Amy BISHOP, by Letters of Patent bearing date of July 7, 1726. Deed Book 2, page 504.
• Indenture made the 4th day of April, 1745, between Bird Thomas LANIER of Brunswick County and Richard RUSSELL, for 45 pounds, conveying 283 acres, being a part of a larger tract granted to John SPELL by Letters of Patent bearing date of December 28, 1736, and beginning at Daniel TAYLOR'S corner hickory. Witnesses were John WARD, John EZELL, and Thomas TWITTY. Acknowledged in Court on April 4, 1745, by Bird Thomas LANIER and Mary LANIER, wife of the said Bird Thomas LANIER, appeared and voluntarily relinquished her right of dower. Deed Book 3, page 6.
• Indenture made the 20th day of March, 1744, between William BATT of Prince George County and William ADAMS of Brunswick County, for 20 pounds, conveying 290 acres, lying and being on the South side of Maherrin River. Witnesses were Thomas LANIER, John MACLIN, and James COOK. Proved by the oaths of the witnesses thereto in Court on April 4, 1745. Deed Book 3, page 10.
• Indenture made the ____ day of March, 1744, between William MUNFORD of Prince George County and David DOUGLAS, conveying 39__ acres, granted to the said ______________ by Letters of Patent bearing date of September __, 1730, Witnesses were Henry DICKSON, Mark HARWELL and David ABERNATHY. Deed signed by William MUNFORD and Mary MUNFORD. Proved by the oaths of the witnesses thereto, in Court on April 4, 1745. Deed Book 3, page 13.
• Indenture made the 2nd day of May, 1745, between Henry JONES of St. Andrews Parrish, County of Brunswick, and William JONES of same, for 20 shillings, conveying 288 acres on Hickory Run. Witnesses were William AVERIS and William REDE. Acknowledged in Court on May 2, 1745, by Henry Jones. Deed Book 3, page 15.
• Indenture made the 2nd day of May, 1745, between Henry JONES of St. Andrews Parrish, County of Brunswick, and Hix JONES of same, for 20 shillings, conveying 116 acres of land. Witnesses were William REDE and William AVERIS. Acknowledged in Court on May 2 [?],1745, by Henry JONES. Deed Book 3, page 16.
• Indenture made the 2nd day of May, 1745, between Hix JONES and William JONES, for 5 shillings, conveying 12 acres on Hickory Run. Witnesses were Moses DUNKLY, William EDWARDS, and Morgan MACKENNY. Signed by Hicks JONES. Acknowledged in Court on May 2, 1745, by Hicks JONES. Deed Book 3, page 18.
• Indenture made the 2nd day of May, 1745, between James WYCHE and Elizabeth, his wife, of Surry County, and Charles COLLIER of Brunswick County, for 20 pounds, conveying 150 acres on South side of Maherrin River on Beaverpond Creek. Names of the witnesses were not given. Acknowledged in Court on May 2, 1745, by James WYCHE and Elizabeth WYCHE. Deed Book 3, page 20.
• Indenture made the 17th day of May, 1745, between William SMITH of Brunswick County, Planter, and Batt PETERSON, for 25 pounds, conveying 150 acres on South side of Maherrin River beginning on the side Batt PETERSON'S line and running up both sides of the Long Slash for it quantity. Witnesses were Burrell BROWN, Belean POSEY, and Sarah DENTON. Acknowledged in Court on June 6, 1745, by William SMITH. Deed Book 3, page 26.
• Indenture made the 29th day of June, 1745, between John ROBINSON and William BRODNAX of Prince George County, for 18 pounds, conveying 351 acres bounded by James Walkers land he bought of William KING, John COLLIERS land, Henry WILKINS land, William GOWENS and Cage PERRY'S land (the land whereon the church stands and the land which the said John ROBINSON bought of Richard HOCKEBE). Condition of the indenture was to secure payment of 36 pounds. Witnesses were Elizabeth CARLOS, Ann BRODNAX, and Henry BRODNAX. Acknowledged in Court on August 1, 1745. Deed Book 3, page 54.

• Indenture made the 6th day of March 1750, between John DAVIS and James HICKS for 5 pounds, conveying 130 1/2 acres on South side of Hall's Branch formerly granted to John BISHOP by patent bearing date of March 15, 1741. . . conveyance became the Estate of Charles HIX who died without issue and intestate and so became<the estate of Thomas HIX, nephew and heir at law to the said Charles HIX, and by him sold and conveyed to the said John DAVIS and James HIX by deed. . . dated the 4th day of January, 1745.
