REFERENCES

As noted in the ACKNOWLEDGMENTS, the majority of ancestral names and information for this book comes from the works of Reverend Dennis Allen Kastens. Rev. Kastens is minister of the Peace Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Over the past 45 years, he has conducted research on many of the family lines in and around the Rumbach, Germany area and into other countries such as Switzerland where his research has lead. Rev. Kastens' mother was Paula Ann Neuhart Kastens and her ancestors were one of the primary targets of his research. The Neuhart family is also a member of our Jung family line. Rev. Kastens is the author's 7th cousin.

Rev. Kastens has published several books which have been primary resources for this book. These books include translations of many of the relevant German, Swiss, and French church and civil records of the past 600 years. Rev. Kastens has also published books giving the pedigree of many of his family lines. Complete information for contacting Rev. Kastens in given in the first reference and is not repeated in the references for each subsequent document. The references due to Reverend Dennis A. Kastens are listed below:

The records of the Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church) in Salt Lake City, Utah were also a major source of information for this book. Dr. Shirley A. Harmon, who lives in Salt Lake City, used this resource as she assisted the author in researching primarily our Jung and related lines. Dr. Harmon also translated the records of the three German churches in Monroe County which contained considerable information on our German immigrant ancestors. This document is: "MONROE COUNTY CHURCH RECORDS: Nineteenth century Records of Lewisville, Middle (St. John's) and Miltonsburg (St. Peter's) German Evangelical Protestant Churches" by Dr. Shirley A. Harmon.

The author's 5th cousin, Andrea Kindelberger, who lives in Rumbach, Germany, accessed local records to collect information from archived documents stored at Dahn, Germany.

United States Federal Census Records were a major resource that permitted ancestors to be located in Europe so that the research of our European ancestors could be continued.

Additional references include the many records found at the Monroe County Courthouse in Woodsfield, Ohio. These include such references as Birth, Marriage and Death records; Property records, and Monroe County Court records.

The library of the Ohio Genealogical Society, Monroe County Chapter located in the Monroe County Public Library in Woodsfield, Ohio was another source of information used in this book. Records from the Monroe County, Ohio, Office of Public Health were also used.

Another major source of information included conversations with friends and members of the family. This information was used primarily in the last section of this book, The Descendants in Our Family Tree. In many cases information such as full given names, dates of birth, dates of death, dates of marriages, etc. were not confirmed. This could lead to possible errors in the data. It is requested that errors found by readers be called to the attention of the author so that they can be corrected.
