Couple Celebrate Golden Wedding

Mr. & Mrs. Charles Siegling, residents of Hand County South Dakota since 1902, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last Thursday at their home in Miller. Because of the stormy weather, all members of the immediate family were unable to be present for the festivities, but two of the daughters and their families, Mrs. O.C. Schultz and Mrs. H.W. Schultz of Tulare were home.  Out of town relatives present for the anniversary celebration were Henry Kesslering, Mrs. Lena Hammer, Mrs. Francis Kinsinger and son and daughter all of Iowa City, Iowa.  Nineteen relatives were present all together.

Mr. & Mrs. Siegling were married October 31, 1879 at Iowa City, Iowa. Mr. Siegling is a native of Germany, having been born in 1856, but coming to the United States when he was fourteen years old. After their marriage Mr. & Mrs. Siegling made their home near Iowa City where they were engaged in farming until 1902 when they came to Hand County, locating in Burdette Township, where they resided for eight years, then moved to Tulare where Mr. Siegling was engaged in stock buying. For a few years they took up their residence in Redfield, but again took up farming and in 1926 they retired from farming and moved to Miller.

Mr. & Mrs. Siegling are the parents of eight children, four sons and four daughters. They have sixteen grandchildren.

Mr. & Mrs. Siegling are both in good health and their many friends hope the bride and groom of fifty years ago will celebrate many more wedding anniversaries.
