Journalist.   Emigrated to New Zealand 1870.

Right:  Elizabeth Pulman (nee Chadd) (1835-1900). Carried on the photographic business after her first husband died. Married John Blackman 1875.
Percy James Blackman Mary Seward Coombs (1875-1969) Left:  Percy James Blackman (1878- 1942), son of John Blackman and Elizabeth Pulman (nee Chadd). Theatrical producer of Dunedin.
Right:  Mary Seward Blackman (1875- 1969), daughter of John Coombs and Elizabeth Ann (nee Boyes).   Married Percy James Blackman.

The farm house at Chobham, Surrey where James Blackman and Ann (nee Stovell) lived.   Their children would have been born in this house, as was John Waymouth, their first grandchild in 1845.
This painting was probably brought to New Zealand by John Blackman when he emigrated in 1870.
