Our immigrant ancestor was Johann Glasener, who along with his brother, Jacob Glasener, born in Germany about 1732 and came from Rotterdam across the Atlantic Ocean on the ship Richmond, and arrived in Philadelphia October 5, 1763. It is interesting to note that they signed their name with two little dots over the "a".

Johann and his wife, Eva settled first in Maryland and then moved to Ohio, where he bought property in the part of Jefferson County that later became Harrison County. He died there in 1812. His Will is on file at the Jefferson County Courthouse and is written in German.

Johann (John) and Eva had three sons:

• George Isaac Glazener, b. 1755 Germany, d. 1812 Buncombe CO NC
  (This branch of the family apparently started the use of a z in the spelling)
• John Glasener b. 1760, d. 1822 Ohio m. Polly Snedecker
  
• Jacob Glasener, b. 1762. d. 4 Jan 1853, b. in Dickinson graveyard Cadiz Township, Ohio, m. Ruth.

My ancestor is George Isaac Glazener. He was married in Maryland to Ellenor (Nellie) Lee. According to census records Nellie was born in New Jersey. Family tradition that has been passed down in several different areas of the family say that she was the first cousin of Lighthorse Harry Lee, father of Robert E. Lee, but this has not been proven. We do know that she had a brother, James L. Lee, who was in Wilkes County, GA in 1790. There were other Lees in this same area who may also have been brothers, but can not be documented.

George and Nellie moved first to North Carolina, then to Wilkes County, GA. In the early 1800s they moved to the part of Buncombe County, NC, that later became Transylvania County, where he died between 1825 and 1828. In the 1800 Census their name is spelled "Glassnore"

Nellie Lee Glazner moved with her son, John, to Georgia and then to DeKalb County Alabama, where she died about 1855 at age 95 or 100. She is said to be buried on Sand Mountain.

• Nellie Glazener m. Enoch Dawson
• Annie Glazener m. Joshua Smith
• Jane Glazener m. John Fletcher Harris, son of Augustin Harris and Lucy Haynie

• John Glazener, b. May 1, 1804, d. August 7, 1888 in Bell County Texas. He married Jane McBrayer, had 3 children. She died in Alabama and he remarried and moved to Texas.

• George Russel Glazner, b. January 25, 1823, NC, d. January 3, 1888, AL, m. Mary F. Civil War Record shows he served in Haralson's Company of DeKalb rifles from DeKalb County, Alabama. Also was listed with Company B, 49th Alabama Regiment. He died January 3, 1888.

• Leander Glazner, b. April 6, 1832, NC, m. Vista Ann Rector, d. Nov. 3, 1909 in DeKalb Co, AL. Vista was b. July 24, 1835 in TN and d. Feb. 18, 1889. Both are buried in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in DeKalb County, AL.

Laura Chilnese Bell, See Bell Information Cherokee County, AL, May 26, 1861, moved to Red River County, TX before 1890, d. near Hugo, (Indian Territory, now Oklahoma) on October 8, 1904.
