17 July 1826

This Indenture made this 17th day of July 1826 between Elijah King and Nancy his wife of the county of Adair and state of Kentucky of the one part and Elizabeth D. Clark of the state aforesaid and county of Barren of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Elijah King and Nancy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars current money in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained & sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said Elizabeth D. Clark a certain tract or parcel of land situate on Fallen Timber Creek in the aforesaid county of Barren and bounded as follows. (To wit) Beginning at a black ash and two sugartrees thence North 1 W 280 poles to a forked beech corner to Giles Kelly thence S 88 1/2 W 85 poles to a dead beech corner near a small sugartree marked (H.T.) thence S 80 W 200 poles to a red oak and two sugartrees thence S 2 3/4 W 226 poles to a stake in an original line of a military survey thence with the same S 86 E 303 poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the said tract of land containing four hundred and sixty eight and three fourths acres unto the said Elizabeth D. Clarke her heirs and assigns forever, and that the said Elijah King & Nancy his wife for themselves and their heirs doth by these presents covenant and agree to warrant and defend unto the said Elizabeth D. Clark her heirs the said tract of 468 3/4 acres of land with the appertunances against the claim or claims of all persons whomsoever. In withness whereof the said E. King & Nancy his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.

Adair County Sct. We John Montgomery & John Anderson two of the Commonwealth Justices of the Peace in and for the said county do hereby certify that after prively examing Nancy King, the wife of Elijah King, she voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the within tract or parcel of land and acknowledged the within seal to be her act and deed given under our hand and seals this 18th day of July 1826.

Barren County, to wit,
I William Logan, clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that this deed of conveyance from Elijah King & Nancy his wife to Elizabeth D. Clark, was proved before me to be the act and deed of the said Elijah King by the oaths of Philip V. Young and William I. Pace subscribing witnesses and thereupon the aforesaid deed the certificate of dower thereon together with this certificate hath been duly admited to record in my office given under my hand this 18th day of September 1826.
