Robert J. Williams (1885-1970) and Nannie Sneed- Williams (1892-1978)

Parents & Grandparents of our WILLIAMS Family. Robert was the son of Hubbard K. Williams & Julia J. Davis, former slaves. Nannie was the dau/of Walter Sneed & Mary Frances Green; Walter was born a slave to Nancy Sneed, and William M. Sneed, Nancy's owner. Mary Frances was born free to James Thomas Green & Pennie Copeland, both free persons of color. James Thomas' father, William A. Green, was born a slave in abt 1786, the son of Thomas & Priscilla Green. Thomas (b.1760), his mother, Crease Green, along with his wife and their then 5 children, were freed in the 1791 will of Samuel Williams of Warren Co.,NC, who is believed to have been Thomas' father.

Robert Leslie Williams (1914-1982)

2nd oldest child of Robert & Nannie Sneed-Williams. Leslie was married to Virgie Harris, dau/of Charlie Buck Harris & Tempie Caudle Jr., on October 6, 1936 in Warren Co. Leslie was the only one of the children of Robert & Nannie Williams who stayed his entire life in Warren County, where he raised a large family.

Francis Marion Williams (1927-2005) and Nathaniel C. Williams (1931-2003)

Sons of Robert & Nannie Sneed-Williams. Robert was the son of Hubbard K. Williams & Julia J. Davis, former slaves. Nannie was the dau/of Walter Sneed & Mary Frances Green; Walter was a former slave, son of the slave Nancy, and their slaveowner, William M. Sneed; Mary Frances was born free, dau/of James Thomas Green & Pennie Copeland.

Willie Royster Williams (1917-1987)

Son of Robert & Nannie Sneed-Williams. Roy served in the Armed Forces for 8 years, and after WWII, he married for the 1st time and moved to NY, where he started a painting contractor business.

Julia M. Williams-Boone (1923-2007)

Youngest daughter of Robert & Nannie Sneed-Williams. Julia was married at age 19 to Walter L. Williams, and later to Odell Boone. Julia had one child from her 1st marriage, Walter "Punch" Williams Jr., now deceased; later in life, she adopted 5 young children from one family, whom she raised to adulthood.

Cora Lee "Rene" Harris-Williams (1924-2012) & her sister, Bettie Mae Harris

Rene, as we all knew her, was the dau/of James Oscar Harris & Ida Williams. She was married for over 41 years to John Thomas Williams (1925-1988), son of Robert & Nannie Sneed-Williams.

Vera Lee "Virgie" Harris-Williams (1916-1993)

Virgie Williams, oldest child of Charlie Buck Harris & Tempie Caudle Jr., was married on Oct. 6, 1936 to Robert Leslie Williams (1914-1982), 2nd oldest child of Robert & Nannie Sneed-Williams. Charlie was son of Oliver Harris & Julia Powell.

Sadie Lee Harris (1919-2012)

Sadie was the daughter of Charlie Buck Harris & Tempie Caudle Jr., and she was the sister of Virgie Harris-Williams.

Tempie Harris-Pugh (1927-2012) & Rene Harris-Williams.

Tempie & Rene were 1st cousins. Tempie was dau/of Charlie Buck Harris & Tempie Caudle Jr. Charlie was the brother of Rene's father, Oscar Harris. Tempie was the dau/of William Thomas Caudle & Tempie Williams; William was s/o John Haywood Caudle & Mary Polly Evans, both of whom were free persons of color.

Tempie Harris-Pugh, Sadie Lee Harris, & Rene Harris-Williams

Tempie & Sadie, daughters of Charlie B. Harris & Tempie Caudle Jr.; & their cousin, Rene Harris-Williams, dau/of James Oscar Harris & Ida Williams. Charlie & Oscar Harris were brothers.

William Thomas Caudle (1935-2011) (left)

a.k.a. W.T., son of Junius Boonie Caudle & Olivia White. Junius was son of William Thomas Caudle & Tempie Williams; Wm. T. was the son of John Haywood Caudle & Mary Polly Evans.

Willie Gray Caudle (b.1924)

Daughter of Junius B. Caudle & Oliva White; her brother was W. T. Caudle.

James Oscar Harris (1881-1965)

Oscar, the father of Rene Harris-Williams, was married to Ida Williams on Apr. 6, 1919. He was the son of Oliver Harris & Julia Powell, who married Sept. 21, 1871. Oliver's parents were Harry Johnston & Chaney Harris; Julia's parents were Eaton & Mary Powell, with both sets of parents former slaves. Oscar's brother, Charlie B. Harris, who was married to Tempie Caudle Jr.
