Will & Estate of WILLIAM ALSTON-1795

(This was William Alston, b. 1747-d.1795), son of Philip Alston & Winnefred Whitmel; his wife was Martha Hardy, d. 1823)
In the name of God Amen
I WILLIAM ALSTON of Warren County, being of perfect mind and memory blessed be God to this 14th of July Ninety five, make and ordain this my
last will and testament, in manner and form following, Viz.
To My beloved Wife MARTHA ALSTON, I give and bequeath the plantation whereon I now live, together with the plantations which I bought of HENRY ALSTON,
and SAMUEL WILLIAMS, during her natural life after with to descend to my Son MEDICUS ALSTON.
I also give to my beloved Wife the following Negroes SARAH, LETTICE, LUCY and BOATSWAIN, exclusive of an equal part in the balance
of my Negroes. The remainder of my land, it is my desire, should be equally divided between my sons PHILIP, WILLIAM, WHITMEL, THOMAS and SAMUEL ALSTON.
My Negroes it is my wish should be equally divided between my Wife and children and the children to take their parts as they come of age, or marry.
The stock to be divided equally between my Wife, and Sons. I also empower my beloved Wife to dispose of the House and kitchen furniture as she may think
proper between my children.
My land which I bought of THOS CRAWFORD, in Halifax, to return to him, provided the claims which JOHN HAMILTON has against the estate of NATHANIEL
KIMBROUGH should be resolved, but if other wise the said land to be divided between my sons, in case CRAWFORD does not provide for the discharge of the
said claims.
And I hereby make and appoint my Brothers THOMAS, PHILIP, and SAMUEL ALSTON Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof I the said WILLIAM ALSTON have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

The division of the Estate of WILLIAM ALSTON, dec'd. Agreeable to an order of the Worshipful Court of Warren,
we THOS., PHILIP & SAMUEL ALSTON have proceed to lay of WHITMELL ALSTON's proportionable part of his deceased Father's Estate according to the Will of
sd. deceased and have alloted to him the following tract of land lying and being in th county of Warren County and bounded as follows [a description of
land containing Fifteen hundred and Twenty one and a half acres is listed]. And also the following

In compliance with an order of the Worshipfull Court of Warren we THOMAS PHILIP and SAMUEL ALSTON have proceeded to divide the Estate of WILLIAM ALSTON
Deceased agreeable to his Will and do lot off and apportion to POLLY H. HAWKINS wife of JOSEPH HAWKINS and one of the Legatees of sd deceased the following
Negro slaves, viz:
