My father came to Texas in
1832, leaving Jaokson with a large train of
emigrants on 4/3/1832, and arrived at San Felipe on the Brazos
7/29/1832. He took part in the war of '36. When Ben
Milan called for volunteers to go into San
Antonio, he followed Milan and was near by when Milan was killed. He was
in the Battle at Conception, was also in the battle known as
the grass fite under Jim Barron in Feb. 1836, while in the army at
Gonzales Capt Tom Barron organized a Ranger Co in 1837 and father
afterwards became 1st Lt. under Barron. In this service headquarters
were about 9 miles below where Waco now stands. There
was another thing occurred after that in this service "The Morgan's
Point Fight." This massacre took place on Xmas night of
1838. The fight took place about the 9th day of January, 1839.
