STAR POST OFFICE opened 5 August, 1884, when William E. Reid was appointed postmaster. Star was in Hamilton County until the Spring of 1887, however, the post office was not transferred to Mills County until  after 1892.  The last Hamilton County postmaster was Elliot A. Street who was appointed postmaster on 20 July, 1892.
