Bertha Elma Baker, 90, died Friday, April 13, in the Eastern New
Mexico Medical Center, South in Roswell, New Mexico after a short illness.
Services were held Monday, April 16, at 10 a.m. in the Riley Funeral
Chapel in Hamilton with Rev. Gerald Stanford and Rev. Harold Horn
officiating. Burial was in the Shive Public Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 17, 1899, in LaVaca County, Texas. Her parents were John
and Dora McCullough Vick.
October 22, 1922, she married Ira E. Baker in Hamilton. (Hamilton
County Marriage Record Bk. 8, p. 308) He
survives her at their residence in Artesia, New Mexico.
She was a resident of Hamilton for may years, but has lived in New
Mexico for the last two. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sardis
Primitive Baptist Church.
Other survivors include five children, Vivian Bubert of
Hamilton, Betty Jane Thompson of Chandler, JoAnn Lee of Fort
Stockton, Ira J. Baker of Artesia and Grady Roy Baker of Laughlan, Nevada; a sister, Ruby Lee of Hamilton; a brother, Bud
Vick of Hamilton; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three
great, great grandchildren.
Two sisters and one bother preceded her in death.
Pallbearers were Herbert Seilheimer, Darwin Stanford, Jerry
Bubert,
Jerry Baker, Bratton Arnett, and Roy Harris.

Ira E. Baker, Sr., 91, died Tuesday, March
26 in the Artesia Good Samaritan Center in Artesia, NM following an
extended illness. Funeral services were held Friday, March 29 in the
Riley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Stanford and Harold Horn
officiating. Burial was in the Shive Public Cemetery.
Mr. Baker was born September 16, 1899 in
Hamilton County to James William and Georgia Berry Baker. On August 22,

he married Bertha Elma Vick, who preceded him in death. He was a farmer,
a school teacher, and a bus driver. He was a member of the Sardis
Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two children,
Cecil Baker and Doris Evelyn Baker.
Survivors include one brother, James Baker
of Sweetwater; five sisters, Ora McCullough of Sweetwater, Ruby Davis of
Carlsbad, NM, Verda Boggs of Las Cruces, NM, Joyce Hammock of Silver
City, NM and Ruth Coston of Huntsville; five children, Vivian Bubert of
Hamilton, Betty Jane Thompson of Chandler, Jo Ann Lee of Fort Stockston,
Ira Baker, Jr., of Artesia, NM; eleven grandchildren, six great
grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Leslie Bosse, Eddie Bosse,
Dale Chilton, Darwin Stanford, Herbert Scilheimer, and Bratton Arnett.

Mrs. Mamie Ann Drake, age 84, passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Home
in Hamilton, early Friday morning, Dec. 4 after an extended illness.
The Rev. Tim Moody officiated at the services that were held in the
Riley Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2:00 P.M. Burial was in the
Shive Cemetery.
Mrs. Drake was born in Hamilton Co. on April 2, 1897, the daughter
of William Kiefer Bloodworth and Annie Hubbard Bloodworth. She lived in
Hamilton Co. most of her life and was married to Rev. S. M. Drake, a
farmer and a Baptist preacher on June 24, 1918 in Lampasas, Texas. She was
a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. S. M. Drake, one son, Sam Allen
Drake Sr. of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, a daughter, Mary Helen Drake Pax of
Hamilton, one sister, Sellie Bloodworth McCauley of Terrell, two brothers,
Mark Bloodworth of Shive, and Max Bloodworth of Silver City, New Mexico.
Four grandchildren, Sarah, Alton Earl, Mildred Ruth and Sam Allen Jr.
Drake and six great grandchildren. Mike and Ronnie Bone, Rhea and Dea
Drake, Greg Drake and Kristi Drake.
Pallbearers were Tony Bone, Alton Earl Drake, Sam Allen Drake, Jr.
Garnett Damewood, Mike Bone and Ronnie Bone.

Samuel Marshal Drake, 88 of Hamilton died at the Hillcrest Nursing
Home on Monday March 3, 1986 after an extended illness.
Services were held in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday,
March 5, with the Rev. Tim Moody officiating. Burial followed in the Shive
Cemetery. Mr. Drake was born in Hamilton County on Sept. 19, 1897 the son
of Samuel Palmer Drake and Nellie Putnam Drake. He lived in Hamilton Co.
most of his life. He was married to the former Mary Ann Bloodworth on June
24, 1918 in Lampasas, Texas.She preceded him in death on December 4, 1981.
He was a pastor and evangelist in the Hamilton area for a number of years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Chruch of Hamilton and was an active
member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Helen Drake Pax, a son, Sam Allen
Drake Sr. both of Hamilton. Two brothers, Owen and Lawrence Drake also of
Hamilton. Two sisters, Susie McAnelly of Hamilton and Berta Green of Fort
Worth. Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Alton Drake, Sam Drake, Jr., Tony Bone, Garnett
Damewood, Palmer Drake and Darwin Stanford. Honorary pallbearers were Mike
and Ronnie Bone.

Myrtle Duncan, 86, died Tuesday, June 20, 1989, at
the Stephenville Nursing Home in Stephenville, after an illness of 18
months. Services were held Thursday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. in the Riley
Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Stanford officiating. Burial was in
the Shive Public Cemetery.
She was born September 12, 1902, in Lamkin to Fleeta
C. and Ninah Dorrough Stevens. She was married to C. M. (Clent) Duncan who
preceded her in death on June 17, 1967.
One son, Stevens Duncan..., five grandchildren, and
six great-grandchildren survive her. Also surviving are three brothers,
Damon Stevens, T. F. Stevens, and Artie Lynn Stevens. Two brothers, Otto
and Marvin Stevens are deceased.
Mrs. Stevens had lived in Mineral Wells, Shive and
Hamilton. She was a Baptist. Pallbearers were J. A. Stevens, Melton
Stevens, Bryan Duncan, E. E. Maloy, Edgar Lanmon, and Marcom Owen.

James Wesley Headley IV, infant died at
Scott and White Hospital in Temple on Thursday, Nov. 5. Graveside
services were held at the Shive Public Cemetery on Monday, Nov. 9, with
Father Earl Headberg officiating. Riley Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
Survivors include his parents, James Wesley
and Melissa Christina Davis Headley; maternal grandparents, Charles and
Beverly Koether of Hamilton; paternal grandfather, James Wesley Headley
Jr. of Hamilton and paternal grandmother, Loretta Jane Scarafioto of New
Mexico.
Pallbearers were Matt Manzoin and Sam

Robert Fieldon Rucker, 90, died Jan. 12, 2004 at Hamilton. Funeral services will be held Jan. 14 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Marrs officiating. Burial will be in the Shive Public Cemetery.
Mr. Rucker was born September 12, 1913 at Shive, the son of H.A. Rucker and Cora Mae Bullington Rucker. He was a long time farmer and rancher. He was also in the sand and gravel business for many years. He was married to Norma Williams on Feb. 14, 1934. She preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 1995. He is also preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Mamie Bullard, Ola Chambliss and Rowena Gardner.
Survivors include two sisters, Maggie Gardner of Hamilton and Maxine Knelly of Belton; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Randy Gardner, Sheet Gardner, Don Barnett, Jerry Chilton and Harry Bullard.

Lillian Vick, 84, of Hamilton, died in All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth on Thursday, April 14, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 16, in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Shive Public Cemetery.
Mrs. Vick was born in Arizona on Aug. 31, 1903, the daughter of the late Edward and Lidia Voss Risinger. She was a housewife and a member of the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, John Vick and Otis Vick; three sisters, Mrs. Glen Hoak, Bernice Jackson, and Ruth Little; a brother, William Risinger; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Vick on Nov. 15, 1967.
Pallbearers were Bill Smith, Will Risinger, Jr., James Risinger, David Stone, Bob Brown, and Bill Jackson.
