C. R. (TIGE) MAIN
Automobile Dealer
C. R. (Tige) Main was born in Bosque County on a farm
between Iredell and Walnut Springs in 1893. He is the son of A. M. C. Main
and the late Sarah Main. He came to Hamilton in 1907 and started
railroading, ad the time attending to two pumps, making the trip from one
to the other in a small gasoline car on the railroad track. In 1909 he
started braking, and after two years on the Cotton Belt, he followed
railroad work in other sections. He returned to the Cotton Belt in 1916
and has been with them ever since. Although he established an automobile
business in Hamilton in 1933, he has never lost his seniority on the
railroad and goes out often enough to hold it.
Mr. Main is a member of the Brotherhood of Railway
Trainmen, I. O. O. F. And K. P. Lodges. [International Order of Odd
Fellows and Knights of Phythias]
He was married to Miss Celest Jones, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Emery E. Jones, of Stephenville, on August 19, 1918. Mrs. Main is a
graduate of Stephenville High and attended John Tarleton College. They
have one son, C. R. Jr., who is now 16 years of age.
