J. J. McCOLLUM  --1897

In 1897 J. J. McCollum was elected co-principal with J. A. Kooken of the Hamilton High School.  He was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., where he was born Dec. 28, 1863.  He came to  Texas in 1882 and settled in Coryell County.  He was a graduate of the Male and Female College at Willis, Texas taking his degree in 1890.  He taught at Valley Mills before coming to  Hamilton.

As far as the County News can learn, McCollum has no descendants in this county.
