JOHN G. JONES  --1897

Mr. Jones, according to the 1897 Herald, "espoused the cause of the Peoples' party soon after its organization.  In 1894 he was elected county treasurer, and was re-elected in 1896.  He was born in America in 1849, and moved to Texas in 1860.  He moved to California where he stayed for four years, returning to Texas and traveling around a few more years before he settled on the Cowhouse.  The County News has been informed that Mrs. Jones is still living in Fort Worth.
