D. C. HENDRIX

1897

[David Crockett Hendrix]

Mr. Hendrix came to Hamilton County in 1865 and settled in the Leon valley near Snow’s Mill. He participated in a number of Indian fights, and when Miss Ann Whitney was murdered by the savages, a company of volunteers organized to chase them, choosing Hendrix as Captain. He became known as one of the leading ranchmen of this section handling Herford and Polled Angus cattle. HE was elected county commissioner in 1890, serving two terms.

Mr. Hendrix was the father of Buster Hendrix, who now lives near Lanham.
