Mr. Gleason, a native of Maine, came to Hamilton County in 1880, buying
the Wilson survey of 6,000 acres near Martin’s Gap at 70 cents an acre.
A few years later he bought the Giraud ranch for $7.50 an acre containing
about 4.000 acres. He cut most of this property up into small blocks and
sold it out to settlers for home making purposes.
The County News has been informed that Mr. Gleason has relatives
now living in Hico.
