PRAIRIE SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH

Prairie Springs Baptist Church was constituted 14 October, 1882, by G. W. Grammar, J. W. Slaton, and T. H. Green with 12 members. This church sent a petitionary letter to the fifteenth annual session, August 17-20, 1883, of the Bosque River Baptist Association and was granted membership in that association.

 

On 17 August, 1895, E. H. Carter and his wife, Matilda Carter deeded a lot or parcel of ground to the un-named trustees of Prairie Springs Baptist Church. The lot was situated in Hamilton County and being a part of the Wm. M. Smith 1476 acre survey and described as follows: Beginning at the SE corner of the A. D. Marlows tract of land for the SW corner of this Thence N 20 degrees West 60.5 varas with Marlows east line and to a rock for the NW corner, Thence N 60 degrees East 87 varas to a rock for the NE corner, Thence S.30 degrees 65.5 varas to a rock situated in the South line of my tract of land Thence S 60 W 87 varas to the place of beginning containing one acre of land. The deed was signed at Hico and was notorized by J. C. Rodgers. This deed was filed in Hamilton County Deed Book 12, p. 157.

Prairie Springs Baptist Church disappeared after 1895.
