PLEASANT VALLEY
PLEASANT VALLEY is
twelve miles east of Hamilton. Pleasant Valley "was a school
established in 1876, and named by Daniel Babb, a Baptist preacher
and an uncle of Mrs. Broce Oglesby, who attended school there when
she was seven years old. It probably got its name from the
view."
William Benton "Squire"
McAnelly came to Hamilton County in
December, 1873. He acquired extensive holdings on some of the best land on
the Leon River. Squire McAnelly was a county commissioner
from 1884 until 1886 and was Justice of the Peace for many years.
