OTTO GOTTFRIED "PETE" PETERS

Otto "Pete" Gottfried Peters died peacefully at his home in Cedar Hill on Dec. 14, 2002. Services were held Dec. 18 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Grand Prairie. He was buried at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery with full military honors.

He was born April 2, 1924 in Hamilton County, the son of Gustav and Anna Peters of Shive.

He was a World War II veteran serving aboard the USS Sangay in the Southwest Pacific. He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He then entered the United States Air Force in 1950 where he served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a Branch Superintendent. He retired in 1968 at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant with more than 20 years of service to his country.

He was married to Lorine Louise Goerdel of Pottsville on Dec. 25, 1950. (Hamilton County Marriage Record Bk. 11, p. 326.)

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon Peters and husband Patrick Leary; two grandsons, Jason and James Leary; a brother, Gustav Peters; sisters, Ida Carlson and Frieda Neff; Paula Eisen and husband Rudolph and Lydia Wagner and husband Leamon; a sister-in-law, Maxine Peters and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Parents were Gustav August Peters, Sr. and Anna Marie (Peters) Peters.
