PECAN CREEK, MIDDLE

There are two Pecan Creeks in Hamilton County--one near the middle of the county and the other near the western edge of the county from the Leon River north of Gentrys Mill moving toward Carlton.

The Pecan Creek which flows through the middle of Hamilton County begins southeast of Hamilton near the intersection of CR 401 and FM 1241 (Blue Ridge Road) and progresses in a northwesterly direction  through the middle of Hamilton before turning eastward following CR 210 to CR 221.  HWY 22 crosses Pecan Creek two miles east of Hamilton.  Pecan Creek joins the Leon River between CR 302 and Rock House.  Pecan Creek was once deep enough to be able to propel mills.  In April, 1957, the raging torrents from Pecan Creek flooded the Hamilton courthouse square.
