Nancy L. Page, 55 of Walnut Springs, died July 1 in Fort Worth. A memorial service was held July 5 at Bean-Massey-Burge Chapel. 

She was born Aug. 2, 1949 in Hamilton and had been a resident of Walnut Springs for five years. She was a certified nurse’s aide for Stephenville Hospital and also did private home health care. Mrs. Page participated in the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society for many years. She was lovingly referred to as Nana by her grandchildren. 

Survivors include her daughter, Diora McDuffie of Iredell; a son and daughter-in-law, Jarrod and Susan Page of Granbury; three grandchildren, Breanna, Bubba and Jancy Jo; a sister, Patricia Hopper of Hamilton and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

PAINTER,MARY LOU (McCOLLUM)

Mary Lou McCollum Painter, 97 of Gatesville, died July 12, 2000 in the Hamilton hospital. Graveside services were held July 14 at Gatesville City Cemetery with Rev. Larry VanZile officiating. 

She was born in Valley View on Oct. 20, 1902 to F.T. McCollum and Della Whitley McCollum. She moved to Gatesville in 1912 and became a member of the First United Methodist Church at the age of 13. 

Mrs. Painter graduated from Gatesville High School in 1920 and received a Bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University in Denton in 1925 and later did graduate work at the University of Chicago and was married to George B. Painter on Sept. 9, 1927. 

She taught school in Oglesby one year and in Gatesville for four years and later did substitute teaching during World War II and in 1960. She was a lifetime member of Woman's Forum. 

Mrs. Painter was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 16, 1983, and a grandson, John Brian Johnson in November, 1984. 

Survivors include her children, G. Brian Painter of Corpus Christi and Patricia Dell Johnson of Hamilton; three grandchildren; three great-grandsons and two sisters, Mrs. Annette Young of Graham and Mrs. Frankie Stout of Waco. 

The family requests that memorials be made to a favorite charity or church.

PARRISH, RUBY MYRTIS (COBB)

Ruby Myrtis Cobb Parrish died Aug. 26, 2003. Funeral services were conducted at First Baptist Church of Cranfills Gap on Aug. 30, pastor Danny Rogers and former pastor and friend Bro. Bill Schibler officiating. Burial was at St. Olaf's Rock Church. 

She was born Jan. 30, 1916 in Normangee, Leon County. She was married to Wilbur Jefferson Parrish on July 6, 1935 in Mexia. 

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Cranfills Gap where she served as church treasurer for 22 years as well as serving on various church committees. She enjoyed cooking for the Lutefisk dinner and helping make quilts to be raffled off at Septemberfest as fundraisers for the Goar Valley Extension Club's Scholarship program. Mrs. Parrish's hobbies included playing games, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, yard work, fishing and painting. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, W. J. (Jake) Parrish in 1981; her son, W. E. (Gene) Parrish in 1994; her daughter, Judith P. Rose in 1999 and her son-in-law, Lee A. Rose in 1970. Survivors include her daughter, Janet P. Cox and husband Larry C. of Cranfills Gap; two sisters-in-law, Dean Cobb and Grace Parrish; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many close friends. 

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cranfills Gap or to the charity of your choice.

PATTON, MARY ELIZABETH (FRANCIS) 

The Hamilton Herald-News November 25, 2004 

Mary Elizabeth Patton, 94, a homemaker, died Nov. 16, 2004 in Hamilton. Funeral services were held Nov. 18 in the stateroom of Laurel Land Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Patton lived in Fort Worth for 35 years before moving to Hamilton three years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. Patton, in 2001. 

Survivors include her sister, Ann Stecker of Hamilton; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Francis of Fort Worth; a brother, Bill Francis of Weatherford; a nieces, Chris Paschal and Prissy Woodrich and a nephew, Pat Ferguson.

PAULSON, CHRIS M., JR, 



The Hamilton Herald-News June 2, 2005 

Chris M. Paulson Jr., 81, of Cranfills Gap, died May 21 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple after a long illness. Funeral services were held May 24 in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap with Rev. Terry Atkins officiating. Burial was in St. Olaf (Rock Church) Cemetery. 

Mr. Paulson was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Ballinger, the son of Chris M. and Pearl West Paulson. He attended school in Harmony and later in Cranfills Gap where he graduated. 

Mr. Paulson attended college in Goodwill, Okla. and Denver, Colo. before enlisting in the U.S. military. He was employed with Phillips Petroleum, Convair and later General Dynamics. He was married to Mary Ruth Paulson on Feb. 4, 1949 in Fort Worth where the couple lived for 10 years before returning to Cranfills Gap. 


Mr. Paulson was an expert cabinet maker and operated his Hillside Cabinet Shop for many years until his health began to fail. He loved to play the guitar and for some 25 years, he and others played and entertained residents in local nursing homes and towns. 

He was baptized and confirmed at Oslo Lutheran Church in Gruver and was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. 


Survivors include his wife of Cranfills Gap; a daughter, Christi Darlene Nations and husband David of Granbury; sons, Michael L. Paulson of Hamilton, Stephen R. Paulson of Belton and Randy Paulson and wife Laurie of Cranfills Gap; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Paulson and wife Mary of Burleson; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Bryan Paulson and a sister, Bernice Turner. 

Pallbearers were Will Paulson, Ricky Paulson, Glenn Lee, John Paulson, Matthew Nations and Christopher Paulson.

Jewel Katherine Jones-Perry, 88, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at City View Care Center in Fort Worth. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at Riley Funeral Home in Hamilton. She was born on March 4, 1917, the daughter of Charlie Ross Jones and Annie Myrtle Jones of the Evergreen Community. 

She was the widow of Jeff M. Perry, who died in 2001. 

After spending 28 years of her life in Fort Worth, Jewel retired in 1971 and moved back to Hamilton County. She married Jeff M. Perry in 1985. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church all her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother. 

Survivors include her son, Gene Grimland and wife Sandra of McKinney; daughter, Sheilah Oscher and husband Irwin of Fort Worth; stepchildren, James Harold Perry and wife Sharon of Arlington, Charles Parker and wife Vireta of Goldthwaite, Jan Ivey of Austin, Guy Parker and wife Latricia of Sonora and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

PETTIT, KENNETH EARL 

Nov. 18, 2004 The Hamilton Herald-News 

Kenneth Earl Pettit, 70, a cattle buyer and rancher, died Nov. 14 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Nov. 18 at the First Baptist Church of Lakeside with an additional service at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the Hall and Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Gustine. 

He was born Aug. 27, 1934 in Comanche, the son of William Clifford and Mae Pettit. He was married to Nelda Hamilton on Oct. 24, 1953 in Comanche. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kenneth Earl Pettit Jr. 

Survivors include his wife, Nelda Pettit; children, Cliff Pettit and wife Vickie and Kenda Riney and husband Phillip; grandchildren, Tyler, Cole and Kristin Pettit and Rylan, Collin and Quinton Riney; brothers, Jack Pettit and Bill Pettit and sister Kaylene McDougal.

PILGRIM, JOSPHINE "JO" BREDEMEYER

Josephine “Jo” Pilgrim, 87, of Lorena died Feb. 11, 2004 in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Feb. 14 at the First Baptist Church of Lorena with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating. Burial followed at Waco Memorial Park. 

Mrs. Pilgrim was born July 10, 1916 near Taylor, the daughter of Henry and Mary Bredemeyer. She was married to Walter Lee Pilgrim on Sept. 23, 1934 in Pumphrey. 

She became a licensed vocational nurse when she was 54 years old and worked in Whitney and Hamilton hospitals until her retirement in 1983. 

Mrs. Pilgrim was a kind and generous lady who loved to have fun. She enjoyed traveling, looking at family photographs and playing Rummikub. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; her daughter, Sue Kauitzseh; her parents; three brothers and four sisters. 

Survivors include daughters, Melba Kemp and husband Ira Lee of Loren and Judy Bass and husband Milton of Burleson; grandchildren, Randy Kemp and wife Janet of Salado; Rick Kemp of Dallas; Barry Bass of Burleson; Melissa Bass Frazier and husband Brad of Burleson; Steve Kauitzsch and wife Pecca of El Paso and Dona Kauitzsch Yates and husband Greg of Rowlett; great-grandchildren, Travis and Haley Kemp; Alex Bass; Danielle and Brady Frazier; Collin Kauitzsch and Lauren and Michael Yates; son-in-law, Michael Kauitzsch and wife Kellie of Sunnyvale; sister, Evelyn Brannan and husband Ray of Odessa as well as many devoted friends, nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers were Ron Bredemeyer, Bill Hood, Don Nichols, John Barton, Bill Jones and Rusty Walker.

POWELL, WILLIAM AKE "PA BILL

Mr. William Ake “Pa Bill” Powell, 83, of Gatesville, died May 9 in a Gatesville hospital. A memorial service will be held May 13 at the First United Methodist Church of Gatesville with Rev. Johnny Miller and Deral McWhorter officiating. 

Mr. Powell was born on Jan. 12, 1921 in the Friendship community on Upper Owl Creek, the son of Sameul Lee and Mary Alice Dorsey Powell. 

He attended Owl Creek and Ewing schools and attended high school for one year in Gatesville and two years at Flat High School where he was the quarterback for their first six man football team. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He served from May of 1941 to July 1945 as a belly gunner on a B42 during World War II. He served with the 465th Bomb Group, 780th Squadron, 15th A.F. 

He worked for Gulf Oil in Port Arthur and retired after 34 years when he moved to Pearl where he managed cattle for several local ranchers. 

Mr. Powell played the fiddle and was a member of the original Country Ramblers for 20 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter, Julia Conn Watt. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou “Honey” Powell of Gatesville; a son, William Michael Powell of Richardson; a brother, F.L. Powell and wife Bernice of Gatesville; two nephews and one niece, all of Gatesville; three stepchildren, E.D. Conn, III of Bevil Oaks, James T.H. Conn of Gatesville and Janie Stephenson of Port Orchard, WA; eight step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; several cousins and a host of friends. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Providence Hospital Hospice, the Gatesville Care Center or to the First United Methodist Church.

PRICE, GLEN DOYLE 

The Hamilton Herald-News July 7, 2005 

Glen Doyle Price, 60, died in Austin June 30, 2005. Funeral services were held July 5 in the First United Methodist Church in Evant with burial following in Bee House Cemetery. 

Mr. Price was born Nov. 20, 1944 at Bowie. He grew up in Evant attending Evant School and the First United Methodist Church of Evant. He was a cars salesman for Time Auto Sales in Austin. 

Survivors include his mother, Velma Price of Evant, three children; Ricky Price, Darren Price and Gina Poe, a number of grandchildren and by one brother Albert Price of Austin.

PRINDLE, LINDA (HARBOUR)

Linda Prindle 65, died April 24, 2003. Funeral services were held at Parkside Baptist Church in Denison with Dr. Dennis Hochgraber officiating and Dr. Bruce Prindle giving the eulogy. 

She was born May 23, 1937 in Evant, the daughter of Lynn and Joyce Harbour. She graduated from Carlton High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard Payne University and a Master of Education degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. 

Mrs. Prindle was a high school English teacher for 38 years, retiring in 1999 after teaching for 24 years at Pottsboro High School. She was an active member of Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, serving each summer in Emmanuel Chapel in Southfork, Colo. 

Survivors include her husband, Frank Prindle of Pottsboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kelly Prindle of Midlothian; daughter and son-in-law, Renee Prindle-Jones and Mike Jones of Arlington; grandsons, David and Brady Prindle of Midlothian; her mother, Joyce Harbour; her brother, Wayne Harbour both of Carlton; nephew and niece, Dennis Harbour of Carlton and Melinda Harbour of Fairhaven, Mass.; two cousins, Leonard Buffee and Nadine Brooks of Indian Gap. 

Memorials may be sent to Parkside Baptist Church Seminary Scholarship Fund.

 

PUGH, EARL DEAN

Earl Dean Pugh 70, died at his home in Hamilton April 16. Graveside funeral services were held April 19 at Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery near Evant with Rev. James Marrs officiating. 

Mr. Pugh was born May 2, 1932 at Denton, the son of Aubray and Cora Hunter Pugh. 

He was united in marriage to Jo Ann Parker March 5, 1953 at Austin. They have shared 50 years of married life. He was a former owner and operator of a roofing construction company. 

His parents, two sisters, Zelpha Loner and Belva Hart and two brothers Arvel and Harvey Lee Pugh precede him in death. 

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Pugh of Hamilton; a son, David Lee Pugh of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Bryan Anderson and Amanda Pugh; four sisters, Geneva Hewitt and Zela Brown, both of Hamilton; Wanda Ashlock of Gainesville; Sally Joan Teideman of Greeley, Colo.; two brothers Benny Pugh of Atlanta, TX and Aubray Pugh of Marietta, Okla. and a number of nieces and nephews.

PULATTIE, FRANCIS WYNN "FRANK" 

The Hamilton Herald-News January 20, 2005 

Francis "Frank" Wynn Pulattie, 82, of Waco died Jan. 10, 2004. Services were held Thursday, Jan. 13 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Jim Chandler, the Rev. Jim Gray and the Rev. D. Michael Toby officiating. Burial was in the Colony Cemetery in Ranger. 

Mr. Pulattie was born July 4, 1922 in Healdon, Okla. He played football at SMU, earning Honorable Mention All-American as a blocking back for legendary running back Doak Walker. He went on to play professional football for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants. 

After knee injuries ended his professional football career, he returned to Texas to coach high school football. He coached in Hamilton in the 1950s. 

In 2002 Mr. Pulattie was inducted into the Waco High School Hall of Fame, where he had been an outstanding high school athlete. After coaching successfully at several schools in Texas and California, Mr. Pulattie went into school administration. He retired as a superintendent in Brewster County in 1984 and returned to Waco. Survivors include his wife, the former Jo Ann Boyd; daughter, Pattie Jo Goff and husband, Larry of Denton; sons, Mike and wife, Linda, and Dan and wife, Sharon of Georgetown; stepdaughter, Janice Royce of Waco; stepson, Jay Roye and wife, Beth, of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
