One of the successful business houses on the north side
is that of the Washam Tire Company, owned by J. B. Washam, a Texan, and
former citizen of Waco.
Mr. Washam began his business career in Hamilton in 1930
and since then has built up a very lucrative business and is recognized as
among the forward looking young men that is rapidly bringing Hamilton to
the front as one of the leading towns of its size in the state.
Mr. Washam is agent for Magnolia Petroleum Company,
Seiberling Tires, Crosley Shelvadore Refrigerators and Radios. He also
carries a full line of automobile parts and accessories useful to a modern
automobile.
Mr. Washam’s wife, formerly Miss Mary Ellen Snell,
daughter of Mr. and Ms. Lee Snell, both Texan and members of pioneer
families of this part of the state, was educated in Texas schools. She
studied Art under Texas teachers and specializes in china painting. She is
also a collector o antique furniture.
