COMPANY ORGANIZED TO PROTECT FROM INDIANS

Following is a list of Company organized in Hamilton County during the
Civil War for protection against Indians and lawlessness. This was part of
the 2nd regiment "Texas State Troops" and was not part of
Regular Confederate Army.
The company was organized in the fall of 1863 and served until the late
spring of 1865, but the list below is taken from the return made for the
period January 31st to June 1st, 1864, which is the only list known and is
in the archives of Texas State Historical Association at Austin.
Only one member of the company is living, Lem D. Reed of Littlefield,
Lamb county.
