THE SURPRISE STORE & OLIN D. PIERCE

-----

Located just off the northeast corner of the square, on Highway 22, merits the attention this furniture store has attained as one of the leading home outfitters of this section and under the efficient direction of Olin D. Pierce.

-----

Olin D. Pierce, proprietor of the Surprise Store, is a Hamilton county boy who has made good in his home town. He was born and has resided in Hamilton county since 1895. He was married to Miss Elsie Cathey in Hamilton. Mr. Pierce established the Surprise Store in 1923, and since that time it has grown continually until now he carries one of the most complete stocks in the county and is located in a building 50x100 feet.

Aside from the furniture business Mr. Pierce is recognized as one of the leading funeral directors of this section and has served hundreds of our citizens in their saddest hours of bereavement. Mr. Pierce brought the first combination funeral car to Hamilton county, and is car is the highest priced car in the county.

This time-tried and well conducted establishment is a store of the people--a store built on the plan that aims to give mutual pleasure, satisfaction and benefits, for it is the desire of the management to make the life of the people worthwhile by supplying at reasonable prices the necessities, comforts, conveniences, and luxuries at reasonable prices. The various articles have been selected by the management with a view to perfection in three things: Comfort, beauty, and durability, and embraces as a whole the most beautiful and durable production of the American furniture makers’ art. It makes no difference whether it is a room you desire to furnish, the whole house, or just a piece or two that you want, you can secure it here on the most reasonable terms the market affords.

Standard makes will be found throughout this store. Library tables, rugs, davenettes, mattresses, beds, kitchen cabinets, stoves, refrigerators, furniture of all kinds; all of the articles for the home are represented by standard brands that are know the country over.

Mr. Pierce is familiar with the business and can tell you exactly what you need to match up with your surroundings and when your house is fitted out, everything will move in peace and harmony.

He is thoroughly conversant with all phases of his business, a prominent citizen and always a booster of things that promise public improvement.

This is one of the most valuable commercial assets in this section--progressive, complete and up-to-date serving the people in the most satisfactory manner. There is nothing that adds more to the progress and prosperity of a community than a progressive business man who appreciates the necessity of keeping up with the times in the selection of his stock and in the matter of operating his business.

Mr. Pierce lives out two miles on his farm where he has cows, chickens, turkeys, and sheep; as in this way, he can know the value of the farmer’s problems as he does at all times have the farmer’s welfare at heart. He is at all times well read on general conditions of the country at large.
