Angeline Jones Santy is the owner and manager of the
ultra-modern dry cleaning establishment that bears he name. The firm was
established by the late Cleo Santy, her husband, in 1920.
Mrs. Santy was born in Hamilton in 1891. She is one of
nine children, six girls and three boys; all of whom now live in Hamilton
except one sister. Her parents were J. D. Jones of Illinois and Melissa
Thomas of Kentucky. She graduated from the Hamilton High school and
married Cleo Santy in 1920.
Cleo Santy was born in Hamilton in 1900. After finishing
high school here he attended the Tyler Business College in Tyler. He was
the elder son of Roy Santy and Margaret Stidham. He died in May, 1933, in
an automobile accident that occurred between Dallas and Cedar Hill. They
have one young daughter, Billy Margaret.
The business was first located on the north side of the
square. The young tailor started out with an iron, and an ironing board, a
few dollars in his pockets and a lot of determination to succeed in his
chosen field. Several years later he and the family moved to Lamesa in
West Texas. They returned at the end of two years and again set up a
cleaners establishment in their present location. Little by little new and
better equipment was installed until now there is no better small cleaner’s
establishment anywhere. The shop boasts of the best of dry cleaning
equipment, felt hat blocking, and cleaning equipment. The made to order
suits are hand-cut and finely tailored by the S. H. Churchill Co. of
Chicago.
Santy’s work is guaranteed. Have your winter clothes
put away clean in a moth proof bag. Moths eat the dirty spots in your
clothes so be sure they are clean before they are stored away. If you will
tell our cleaner what has spotted our clothing it will save time and money
as no spot remover removes all stains. Your tailor knows how to handle
silks and wools. Let him do your cleaning and there will be no risk in
having the garments ruined.
The Historical and Trade Expansion Edition of the News
dares to make the assertion that there is no better equipped tailoring
shop in Texas. They may be larger, but not better. Try your HOME cleaner.
He is here to serve you.
