J. S. PUGH, SR.
_____
J. S. Pugh, Sr., came to Ireland Aug. 26, 1933, from
Tulsa, Oklahoma. He leased a large block of acreage and is now drilling a
test well on the Doyle ranch near Ireland.
In 1911 Mr. Pugh quit the mercantile business and
entered the oil business and has followed it since that time. He received
his training from the major companies and is thoroughly familiar with
every phase of the game. He supervised the drilling of wells in Ranger,
Drumright, and many other fields. He has financed and promoted forty or
fifty wells, and he states that 80 per cent have been producers, as he
spends a great deal of money for geological surveys before drilling.
At present he is associated with Pace Bros., oil
operators of Dallas, who have several producing wells in East Texas, in
the drilling of the Doyle well. Mr. Pugh states that the Ireland well is
completely financed and that he expects to finish the well within 40 days.
Mr. Pugh plays the oil game in a safe way. After
securing large blocks, he sells off enough acreage to finance the well and
also give others an opportunity to play the game with him. He states that
he still has some choice acreage for sale around the Ireland well.
